DFS Bankroll Management: The Math Behind Not Going Broke

By Verdexed Analytics

The difference between a profitable DFS player and a losing one often isn't roster construction — it's bankroll management. Here's the math.

The 10% Rule

Never put more than 10% of your total bankroll into a single slate. If your DFS bankroll is $500, your total entries for a given night should not exceed $50.

Contest Selection

Cash games (50/50s, double-ups) should make up 60-70% of your entries. GPPs (tournaments) are higher variance but higher upside — limit them to 30-40%.

Using Our Projections

Our DFS projections include floor and ceiling estimates based on standard deviations from recent performance. For cash games, prioritize players with high floors. For GPPs, target high-ceiling players who are underowned.

The Kelly Criterion

For prop bets and individual wagers, the Kelly Criterion tells you the optimal bet size: f* = (bp - q) / b, where b is the odds, p is your estimated win probability, and q = 1-p. Our model's win probabilities feed directly into this formula.
