Herbert reverted to the Falcons' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.
Herbert was elevated to the active roster for Sunday's 29-20 win against the 49ers, when he served as Bijan Robinson's backup due to the absence of Brian Robinson (hamstring). Herbert was on the field for only 11 of the Falcons' 68 snaps (16.2 percent), although he nearly nearly found the end zone early in the second half on a 19-yard catch but was ruled out of bounds just short of the goal line. The sixth-year running back added two carries for nine yards and turned two kickoff returns into 65 yards, and he could be elevated for Week 8 against the Buccaneers on Nov. 1 depending on the health of the Falcons' backfield.

After Brian Robinson (hamstring) was ruled out, Falcons coach Kevin Stefanski said Friday that Herbert will be Bijan Robinson's backup against the 49ers on Sunday, Marc Raimondi of ESPN.com reports.
Herbert has been on the practice squad for the past month but will be elevated for RB2 duties against San Francisco. He carried the ball 16 times for 52 yards (3.3 YPC) across seven appearances with the Jets last season but hasn't been a productive rusher since 2023 with the Bears.

Herbert entered the league in 2021 and has suited up for the Bears, Bengals and Jets. In 63 regular-season games, the 28-year-old amassed 1,957 yards and nine touchdowns off 416 carries, adding 54 catches for 316 yards and two touchdowns.
