  • Burke was charged with the loss in Game 5 of the ALDS against the Guardians on Saturday, giving up two runs on four hits with four strikeouts and no walks over five innings.

The White Sox couldn't have asked for much more from Burke, who surrendered the only runs of the game on a two-run homer by Jose Ramirez during the fourth inning. The right-hander can hardly be faulted for the long ball given that the pitch was a mere 0.74 feet off the ground, which is the lowest pitch hit for a home run in the playoffs since tracking was implemented in 2008. Burke received his first taste of the postseason this year and equipped himself well in three games with a 3.77 ERA, 0.70 WHIP and 18:1 K:BB across 14.1 innings.

  • White Sox manager Will Venable said Friday that Burke will start Saturday in Game 5 of the ALDS versus the Guardians, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.

Burke got the win in bulk relief in Game 2 of the series, yielding just one run over 5.1 innings while fanning six batters. The White Sox have elected to have the right-hander make a traditional start in Saturday's winner-take-all affair. He is expected to be opposed by Gavin Williams.

  • Burke earned the win in Game 2 of the ALDS against the Guardians on Monday. He allowed a run on one hit with six strikeouts and one walk over 5.1 innings.

The right-hander worked as a traditional starter in the wild-card round versus Houston, but he entered Monday after Anthony Kay and Sean Newcomb combined to give up two runs (one earned) across 2.1 innings. Burke pitched into the eighth inning, when he was replaced after allowing a two-out single that eventually resulted in a run. It was a strong bounce-back performance after he surrendered three solo homers in Houston last week during his postseason debut. Burke tentatively lines up to pitch in a decisive Game 5 on Saturday, but Chicago will first have two chances at home to close out the series.

  • Burke didn't factor in the decision in Game 2 of the AL Wild Card Series against the Astros on Wednesday. He struck out eight, giving up three runs on four hits and no walks over four innings.

Burke looked dominant at times with 14 whiffs on 72 pitches while punching out half of the batters he faced, but three solo homers prevented him from working deeper into the contest. The eight strikeouts were his highest since Aug. 11, and it was the seventh time in 33 appearances this year that he issued no free passes. With the White Sox advancing past the Astros, Burke could next take the mound as early as Game 2 of the ALDS against the Guardians on Monday.

  • Burke (11-7) earned the win after allowing one run on four hits and one walk over 5.1 innings against the Rockies on Friday. He struck out seven.

Burke recorded his third consecutive win and fourth victory in his last five starts in his final outing of the regular season. The right-hander made only one mistake, allowing a solo shot by TJ Rumfield in the second inning. The 26-year-old Burke heads into the postseason with a 3.34 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 185:62 K:BB in 172.1 frames for the surprising White Sox.

  • Burke (10-7) notched the win Saturday against Detroit, striking out five while allowing one run on five hits and three walks in six innings.

The Tigers scratched a run across in the fifth inning, but that was all they would muster in the scoring department for the afternoon. Burke has now worked at least five innings while giving up fewer than two runs in three of his last four outings in September, though he did surrender a staggering seven runs in the other appearance. He'll bring a 3.40 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 178:61 K:BB over 167 innings into his next scheduled start against the lowly Rockies, which figures to be his final showing of the regular season.
