Rupert finished with nine points (2-8 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 4-4 FT), five rebounds and two assists in 23 minutes during Saturday's 144-106 preseason loss to the Celtics.
Rupert, who agreed to a two-way deal with the Sixers in July, shot at least 40.0 percent from deep in his first two preseason appearances. However, he struggled with his shot overall in the loss to Boston. He spent the bulk of his career in Portland before ending the 2025-26 campaign with the Grizzlies. In 155 total regular-season games in his career, the 22-year-old averaged 4.1 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.0 assists over 14.0 minutes per contest. While Rupert may spend most of his time with the G League's Delaware Blue Coats throughout the 2026-27 season, he likely will suit up for the 76ers at some point, though he is expected to serve as a deep bench option.

Rupert and the 76ers agreed to a two-way contract Friday, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.
A 2023 second-round pick, Rupert split his time between Portland and Memphis last season. Across 64 regular-season games, he averaged 5.2 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.1 assists.

Rupert faced some injury issues late in the season, but he finished the campaign with a flurry of productive games and could be a net positive for the Grizzlies after moving over from Portland. There's ample room for promotion on this depleted squad, which will undergo a transformation in the offseason.

The Grizzlies played with a slim six-player rotation during the loss, giving Rupert and a motley crew of backups ample minutes. Rupert joined the Grizzlies after failing to catch on in Portland, and the third-year pro has impressed with some upside totals in recent days. Rupert's size and speed give the Grizzles flexibility with the skills to fill in at several positions. If he stays with the team, he has a decent chance of making the roster and possibly cracking the rotation.
