Latest news

  • Wagner finished with 16 points (7-10 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 1-1 FT), eight rebounds, one assist and one steal over 23 minutes in Friday's 110-94 loss to the Pistons.

Wagner had another productive showing Friday, ending the night with his third consecutive double-digit scoring performance of the new year. The 2018 No. 25 overall pick was a sporadic contributor in his final season with the Magic in 2025-26. However, Wagner has carved out a meaningful role off the bench for the Nets and is now averaging 11.4 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.4 assists while shooting 58.3 percent from deep over 17.8 minutes in his first five regular-season appearances of the 2026-27 campaign.

  • Wagner amassed 15 points (6-9 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 1-2 FT), four rebounds, three assists and two steals in 22 minutes during Tuesday's 125-124 overtime loss to the Celtics.

Wagner delivered his best performance of the young season, establishing season highs in points, assists, steals and minutes. The veteran big man has now scored in double figures in consecutive games, shooting 11-for-17 from the field and 4-for-6 from beyond the arc during that stretch. Wagner remains a reserve behind Day'Ron Sharpe, but his recent offensive production could help him earn additional playing time in Brooklyn's frontcourt.

  • Wagner finished with six points (1-6 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 3-4 FT), four rebounds and one assist across 14 minutes during Saturday's 125-121 loss to the Cavaliers.

Wagner struggled mightily with efficiency from inside the arc Saturday and is now shooting 22.2 percent from the field and 50.0 percent from deep through two regular-season appearances. The big man will likely continue operating as Day'Ron Sharpe's primary backup.

  • Wagner played 22 minutes off the bench in Wednesday's 144-128 preseason loss to the Heat, delivering 15 points (6-7 FG, 3-3 3Pt) with three rebounds, two assists and a block.

Signed by the Nets to a two-year deal in July, Wagner is expected to be a key component of the team's second unit in 2026-27, provided he can stay healthy. The former Orlando big man was on the court for only 66 regular-season games across the prior two seasons, mainly due to an ACL tear, and in his return from the injury last season, he played just 11.9 minutes a contest while averaging a meager 6.9 points and 3.2 boards and shooting 42.6 percent from the field.

  • Wagner finished with 13 points (4-8 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 5-6 FT), five rebounds, an assist and two steals across 18 minutes off the bench in Monday's 131-122 preseason win over the Wizards.

Wagner provided energetic contributions off Brooklyn's bench, scoring efficiently inside the arc and converting five of six free-throw attempts. The veteran big man also collected five rebounds and two steals, giving him a well-rounded stat line despite playing fewer than 20 minutes. Wagner's combination of scoring, rebounding and defensive production could make him a useful contributor if he earns consistent minutes, but as of now, he's slated to open the 2026-27 season as the backup center behind Day'Ron Sharpe.

  • Wagner is not in the starting lineup for Monday's preseason game against the Wizards.

With Day'Ron Sharpe (shoulder) back in action, Wagner will shift to a reserve role. As a starter Thursday against the 76ers, the veteran center totaled six points (2-3 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four steals, three rebounds and one assist across 18 minutes.
