Edwards will come off the bench in Friday's preseason finale against the Celtics, Sean Grande of NBC Sports Boston reports.
Edwards will return to the second unit with Jaylen Brown back from his rest day. As a reserve this preseason, Edwards is averaging 6.5 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per contest.
RotoWire via ESPN · Oct 16
Edwards totaled 12 points (3-7 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 3-3 FT), five rebounds, two assists and two steals in 31 minutes during Saturday's 144-106 preseason loss to the Celtics.
Edwards was an all-around performer Saturday, as he was one of five Sixers players to reach double figures in scoring while also finishing second on the team in steals. The 22-year-old went undrafted in 2024 but managed to spend his first two seasons in Philadelphia. While he wasn't a day-to-day contributor, he stepped up when needed, most recently averaging 12.4 points, 2.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.8 steals over 26.3 minutes per contest in 12 regular-season starts during the 2025-26 campaign. Edwards will presumably hold a similar role for the 76ers moving ahead, and though that won't result in consistent production, he could draw streaming interest from fantasy managers at times throughout the year.

Edwards is in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Celtics.
Edwards is getting a spot start Saturday since the 76ers are resting projected starters Jaylen Brown and LeBron James. He had a down year in 2025-26, averaging 6.0 points per game in 64 regular-season outings (12 starts), and he's expected to be limited to a bench role in 2026-27 when all the rotation members are healthy.

Edwards finished with seven points (3-7 FG, 1-4 3Pt), five rebounds and one block in 17 minutes during Thursday's 114-108 preseason loss to Brooklyn.
Edwards struggled from beyond the arc but contributed on the glass while seeing 17 minutes off the bench. The 22-year-old forward faces increased competition for playing time following Philadelphia's offseason additions of LeBron James and Jaylen Brown. Edwards will need to make the most of his remaining preseason opportunities as he competes for a consistent reserve role.

Edwards is competing for a bench role with the 76ers this season, per Adam Aaronson of PhillyVoice.com.
Philadelphia made obvious waves for the signing of LeBron James and acquisition of Jaylen Brown this summer, but the team made several other moves to fortify the second unit. They drafted Labaron Philon in the first round of the draft, while also signing Anfernee Simons, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Dean Wade. That likely leaves Edwards in need of an impressive training camp in order to stitch up an Opening Night reserve role.

Edwards totaled eight points (3-9 FG, 0-6 3Pt, 2-2 FT), one rebound and one assist in 16 minutes during Sunday's 144-114 loss to the Knicks in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
With Sunday's game getting out of hand early, Edwards helped soak up some garbage-time minutes. The forward is under contract for 2026-27 and figures to handle a similar reserve role next year. He finished the regular season with averages of 6.0 points, 1.5 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 0.8 steals and 1.0 three-pointers in 15.3 minutes per tilt over 64 games.
