Latest news

  • Champagnie (foot) is expected to miss several months, per Josh Robbins of The Athletic.

The forward underwent surgery Wednesday to address a fractured foot, and the Wizards hope Champagnie will be ready to return around the All-Star break in February. The likes of Bilal Coulibaly, Tre Johnson and Bub Carrington will all be asked to help pick up the slack for the foreseeable future.

  • Champagnie (foot) is out for Wednesday's game versus Cleveland.

Champagnie is sidelined by a right foot injury, which he picked up during Monday's loss in Charlotte. Tre Johnson and Bub Carrington make for intriguing streaming options in deeper fantasy leagues for Wednesday.

  • Champagnie has been ruled out for the remainder of Monday's game against Charlotte due to a right foot injury, Josh Robbins of The Athletic reports. He'll finish with two points (1-1 FG) and two rebounds in four minutes.

Champagnie wasn't able to put much weight on his right foot on his way to the locker room, and he's since been downgraded to out. The severity of his injury is unclear at this time. Champagnie can be considered day-to-day leading up to Wednesday's game in Cleveland.

RotoWire via ESPN · Oct 27

  • Champagnie went to the locker room during the first quarter of Monday's game against the Hornets with an apparent ankle injury, Greg Finberg of Wizards Central reports.

Champagnie can be considered questionable to return until the team has more information to share. Khris Middleton and Will Riley could see more run if Champagnie is downgraded to out.

RotoWire via ESPN · Oct 26

  • Champagnie had 11 points (4-8 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT), 14 rebounds, four assists and one steal in 26 minutes off the bench during Saturday's 124-120 win over the Bulls.

The double-double was the first of the season for Champagnie, and the 13th of his career -- all of which have come since the start of the 2024-25 campaign. The 25-year-old forward is getting a little extra court time while first overall pick AJ Dybantsa (ankle) gets healthy, but even when the Wizards' frontcourt is at full strength, Champagnie should be a key part of the second unit.

  • Champagnie supplied eight points (3-4 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 1-1 FT), eight rebounds and one assist over 21 minutes during Wednesday's 128-116 victory over the Bucks.

With AJ Dybantsa (ankle) sidelined for the season-opening win, Champagnie played the most minutes of any Washington bench player. Bilal Coulibaly (11/2/1/2/4) earned the start in his absence, but Champagnie nearly notched a double-double and finished with a game-best plus-17 as a reserve. The rotation will be something to keep an eye on once Dybantsa returns, but the sixth-year pro should continue to see 15-20 minutes a night.
