The Jazz will decline Collier's $4.99 million team option for the 2027-28 season, Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.com reports.
The decision puts Collier on track to become an unrestricted free agent next summer rather than remain under contract with Utah for a fourth season. The young guard has averaged 9.9 points, 6.6 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 1.0 steals across his first three NBA campaigns, establishing himself as a capable playmaker. His impending free agency creates some uncertainty about his long-term destination, though it shouldn't immediately affect his fantasy outlook for the 2026-27 season.

Collier recorded six points (2-6 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 2-3 FT), three rebounds and six assists in 13 minutes during Sunday's 132-123 loss to the Lakers.
Collier finished second on the team in assists despite his limited playing time, and he now has 13 dimes over his last two outings. With Darryn Peterson and Keyonte George commanding most of the minutes in Utah's backcourt, Collier is averaging just 15.7 minutes per game, which would be a career low in his third NBA season.

Collier contributed 11 points (4-7 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 2-4 FT), five assists, five steals and three rebounds across 22 minutes in Monday's 119-109 preseason win over the Spurs.
Collier was one of seven Jazz players to score in double figures but made his presence felt in other facets of the game. The USC product tallied a game-high five steals while matching Darryn Peterson with a team-high five assists. Keyonte George is penciled in as the starting point guard, but Collier should maintain a notable role off the bench, coming off a 2025-26 season in which he averaged 11.7 points, 7.2 assists, 2.5 rebounds and 1.1 steals in 25.7 minutes across 59 appearances (19 starts).

Collier's ballhandling and playmaking stand out among Utah's current personnel, president of basketball operations Austin Ainge said Monday, Ben Anderson of KSL News Salt Lake City reports.
Collier established himself as a high-level distributor in his second season, averaging 8.7 assists across 78 regular-season appearances in 2025-26. Utah added several new pieces during the offseason, but Collier's ability to create for others gives him a distinct skill set that could help him remain involved in the Jazz's backcourt rotation.
