  • The Suns claimed Timme off waivers Monday, per Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.com.

After being let go by Minnesota on Saturday, Timme didn't go through waivers unclaimed. With Mark Williams (shoulder) likely out through the All-Star break, Timme helps reinforce Phoenix's depth at center.

  • Timme was waived by the Timberwolves on Saturday.

Timme had 18 points, seven rebounds, three assists and one steal over 27 minutes in Friday's 133-116 preseason loss to the Bulls. Despite the strong showing, he couldn't land a spot with the Timberwolves. The 23-year-old has appeared in 36 regular-season games for the Nets and Lakers throughout his career, averaging 5.6 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.2 assists over 13.6 minutes per contest. Timme could find work in the G League, and it's also possible his services will be needed by an NBA team during the 2026-27 campaign.

  • Timme finished with 18 points (7-12 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 3-5 FT), seven rebounds, three assists and one steal over 27 minutes in Friday's 133-116 preseason loss to the Bulls.

The Timberwolves didn't play their core performers, so Timme got a chance to spend time on the floor. He easily had his best showing of the preseason. However, the 26-year-old will still have an uphill climb to secure a spot on the roster heading into Opening Night. Even if Timme manages to make the team, he likely will be off the floor more often than not.

  • Timme signed a training camp contract with the Timberwolves on Friday, Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.com reports.

Timme was a two-way player for the Lakers in 2025-26, though Los Angeles declined to tender him a qualifying offer this offseason. He'll now compete for a spot on Minnesota's regular-season roster. The big man appeared in 27 regular-season games (one start) last season, averaging 3.4 points, 1.2 rebounds and 0.9 assists in 8.7 minutes per tilt.

  • Timme won't start Thursday's game against the Warriors, Dan Woike of The Athletic reports.

With LeBron James (foot) back in the lineup following a one-game absence, Timme will retreat to the second unit. The big man isn't guaranteed meaningful playing time Thursday, and he has averaged 1.8 points across 7.4 minutes per game over his last five appearances off the bench.

  • Timme will start Tuesday's game against Oklahoma City, Thuc Nhi Nguyen of the Los Angeles Times reports.

The Lakers will be without multiple key contributors Tuesday, opening the door for Timme to make his first start of the season. He's averaging 3.1 points in 8.1 minutes per contest across 23 regular-season games, though he'll likely see a significant bump in minutes against the Thunder.
