OUT

Out · expected back around Nov 29

Beal is dealing with knee inflammation that will keep him sidelined for Opening Night. While it's unclear how long the Clippers will be without the veteran guard, Darius Garland, Keaton Wagler and Kris Dunn should dominate the backcourt minutes in his absence. Beal's 2025-26 campaign was cut short by a hip injury after he averaged 8.2 points and 1.7 assists in 20.6 minutes across just six regular-season appearances.

  • Beal (knee) will not be ready for the start of the regular season, NBA writer Justin Russo reports.

Beal is dealing with knee inflammation that will keep him sidelined for the Clippers' regular-season opener Oct. 21 against the Nuggets. While it's unclear how long the club will be without the veteran guard, Darius Garland, Keaton Wagler and Kris Dunn should dominate the backcourt minutes in his absence. Beal's 2025-26 campaign was cut short by a hip injury after he averaged 8.2 points and 1.7 assists in 20.6 minutes across just six regular-season appearances.

  • Beal (knee) isn't participating in five-on-five work but is doing individual player development work, Tomer Azarly of ClutchPoints.com reports. Azarly adds that the Clippers said Wednesday that Beal is continuing to have inflammation managed.

With Beal already set to miss the start of training camp, it sounds like the veteran guard still hasn't progressed to full-contact work. His continued knee inflammation keeps his ramp-up timeline uncertain and suggests the Clippers will continue to manage his workload in camp.

  • Beal (knee) will miss the start of training camp, Law Murray of The Athletic reports.

While Beal has recovered from hip surgery that cost him nearly all of last year, he's now dealing with knee inflammation. His status is in doubt for the preseason opener Sunday against the Warriors, but the veteran swingman's regular-season status doesn't appear to be in danger for now.

  • Beal (hip) agreed to a two-year, $13.2 million contract with Los Angeles on Thursday, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.

Beal declined his $5.6 million player option for the 2026-27 season and became a free agent earlier this offseason, but he's agreed to new terms with the Clippers. The 33-year-old never got going during the 2025-26 campaign, as he suffered a fractured left hip in November after appearing in only six matchups. It remains to be seen whether Beal will be healthy for the start of the season, though once he is, he'll be expected to offer key contributions in the backcourt alongside rookie Keaton Wagler.

  • Beal (hip) has declined his $5.6 million player option for next season per Shams Charania of ESPN.

Beal is now becoming an unrestricted free agent this summer. The veteran guard had a disastrous year for the Clippers, averaging a career-low 8.2 points, 1.7 assists and 1.2 three-pointers in 20.2 minutes per game before hip surgery ended his season after just six contests. Beal's market value appears to be at its lowest, so he may have to settle for a one-year prove-it deal elsewhere.
