  • Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said Wednesday that Judge has a follow-up exam scheduled with Dr. Gregory Pearl regarding his rib, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

A calf strain prematurely ended his season, but Judge missed more than three months of action during the regular season with a stress fracture in his ribs. Cashman noted that the team feels like it's "in a good place" with Judge's injury and they expect the slugger to be ready to go for spring training. Barring any surprises, Judge should receive clearance from Dr. Pearl to go through his normal offseason workouts.

  • Judge (calf) isn't on the Yankees' roster for their American League Division Series against the Rays, Jack Curry of YES Network reports.

Judge has resumed taking live batting practice since being diagnosed with a right calf strain Sept. 19, but he hasn't yet begun running the bases or resumed outfield work. Rather than limiting him to a DH role, the Yankees are waiting until the star slugger can play in the field before activating him for the postseason, and his next chance to play will now be in the ALCS (should New York advance). Heliot Ramos and Spencer Jones will likely continue to share right-field duties against Tampa Bay.

  • Judge (calf) isn't certain to return for the ALDS against the Rays, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

Judge suffered a moderate right calf strain a little more than two weeks ago. He's gone through workouts this week, but he'll need to show he can run the bases without issue before receiving clearance to be on the roster. Complicating matters is that if Judge is limited to designated hitter, Ben Rice would have to play first base, pushing Luis Garcia out of the lineup.

  • Judge (calf) is not on the Yankees' roster for their AL Wild Card Series against the Red Sox, Jack Curry of YES Network reports.

Judge was diagnosed with a moderate right calf strain a little less than two weeks ago. He's made progress, having taken live batting practice Monday, but Judge has yet to try running the bases or playing the outfield since the injury. Judge will push to be ready for the ALDS, should the Yankees advance. With Judge shelved, New York will likely use Spencer Jones in right field and Trent Grisham in center field versus righties.

Eric Karabell looks back on the fantasy baseball season and hands out his MVPs and LVPs for hitters.

  • Judge (calf) logged four at-bats during a live batting practice session Monday, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

Phillips notes that Judge struck out once, drew a pair of walks and hit a comebacker to the pitcher during his time at the dish. While it's a positive sign that he was able to log several at-bats against live pitching, he didn't participate in any on-field running or fielding. The slugger's availability is still up in the air heading into Game 1 of the Yankees' wild-card matchup against the Red Sox. Judge hasn't appeared in a game since suffering a right calf strain Sept. 16 against Minnesota.
