The injury gap between the Colts and Vikings widened before Sunday's 1 p.m. ET kickoff at U.S. Bank Stadium. Indianapolis head coach Shane Steichen ruled out tight end Tyler Warren (groin) and cornerback Sauce Gardner (calf) on Friday, along with receiver Anthony Gould (concussion). Minnesota, meanwhile, expects to welcome back tight end T.J. Hockenson and left tackle Christian Darrisaw from the concussion protocol and receiver Jordan Addison from a hamstring injury, with running back Jordan Mason listed as questionable.

For fantasy managers, that is a two-sided story: the Colts lose their most reliable receiving option after Jonathan Taylor, and the Vikings get back two of Kyler Murray's most important targets in a game they were already favored to control.

The final reports

Both teams' key designations are below. Receiver Alec Pierce (heel) also remains on injured reserve for Indianapolis; Steichen said earlier in the week that Pierce's practice window would not be opened for Week 7.

Warren missed all of the practice week after sitting out the Week 6 loss to Tennessee with the same injury. He was a game-time decision last week before being held out, so the earlier announcement this time at least spares managers a Sunday morning scramble.

Fantasy fallout in Indianapolis

Warren's absence removes the safety valve from an offense that already struggles to move the ball. Daniel Jones has four touchdown passes and six interceptions through six games, and he has been sacked 15 times. Without his tight end, the short middle of the field, where Jones has been most comfortable, gets thinner, and Minnesota's Brian Flores defense blitzes as often as any unit in the league.

Mo Alie-Cox, Drew Ogletree and Will Mallory will split the tight end snaps. None of them should be started in a standard league. Mallory has the most receiving upside of the group, but a three-way committee at the position, against the league's stingiest scoring defense, is a recipe for a box score that helps nobody.

Jonathan Taylor stays in lineups because of volume, but this is a difficult afternoon. The Vikings were allowing a league-low 12.8 points per game entering their bye, and a Colts deficit would cut into Taylor's carries. He remains an RB2 with a floor built on receptions, which may actually tick up a little without Warren soaking up checkdowns.

Jones is a fade in every format. The combination of a thin pass-catching group, a battered offensive line and a blitz-heavy defense is about as unfavorable as matchups get.

Fantasy fallout in Minnesota

The returns turn Minnesota's offense from promising into complete. Justin Jefferson remains a WR1 regardless, but with Addison back as a second outside threat and Hockenson back over the middle, defenses can no longer roll coverage toward Jefferson on every snap.

Hockenson is the cleanest beneficiary of the Colts' injury list. Gardner's absence weakens Indianapolis' cover unit as a whole, which opens up matchups for every Vikings pass catcher, and tight ends tend to feast against defenses forced to rotate coverage toward Jefferson. Hockenson was one of the more popular streaming targets of the week for that reason, and the clean return makes him a confident TE1 play.

Addison is a WR3 in his first game back. The hamstring and the presence of Jefferson cap his ceiling, but Gardner's absence makes a big play more likely than it would have been on Friday morning.

Kyler Murray gets a lift as well. His rushing gives him a fantasy floor, and a healthier group of targets and a returning left tackle in Darrisaw give the passing game its best chance yet to match the legs. He is a viable QB1 in 12-team leagues.

The one Vikings question is Mason. If he plays, expect a committee in the backfield and treat him as a flex. If he sits, the Minnesota run game becomes a lower-volume share, and the passing game absorbs even more of the work.

Betting angle

Minnesota opened as a favorite of nearly a touchdown and has the healthier roster by a wide margin. The question for bettors is less who wins than whether the Vikings can score enough to cover. Minnesota's games have tended to be low scoring because the defense is so dominant, and Indianapolis without Warren may struggle to sustain drives, which points more naturally toward an under than a blowout.

For the model's side and total, see the Verdexed Week 7 picks and /nfl/predictions. That board already accounted for Warren as an absence when it was published, so Friday's ruling does not change its inputs.

The Verdexed angle

The bigger picture here is the trade deadline. Indianapolis fired general manager Chris Ballard on Monday after a 2-4 start, and with Ed Dodds running personnel, rival teams expect the Colts to explore selling before the Nov. 10 deadline. A lopsided loss in Minnesota would only increase the pressure, and Taylor is the name analysts keep mentioning, though no outlet has reported active talks.

That makes Warren's health a longer-term fantasy question as well. If the Colts move veterans, Warren becomes the centerpiece of what remains, a second-year tight end whose target share would rise. Dynasty managers should be buying the injury discount if a Warren manager is frustrated by back-to-back absences.

What to do in your league

Start Jefferson, Hockenson and the Vikings defense with confidence. Start Murray in 12-team leagues and Addison as a WR3. Keep Taylor in as an RB2, and bench every other Colt, including the tight ends. If you were relying on Warren, the best streaming pivots are on other rosters; Indianapolis has nothing at the position worth a start this week.
