The Week 9 lines are up, and they tell a story about a league that has reshuffled itself over the past two weeks. The Buffalo Bills are road favorites in Minnesota on Monday night, the Seattle Seahawks lay double digits at home against Arizona despite just being routed by Chicago, and the New England Patriots are favored over Green Bay. Two teams, Pittsburgh and Tennessee, are on bye.

This is a first look at the market as of Tuesday, with an eye on what the numbers mean for fantasy lineups. Spreads and totals move all week, so confirm with your book before betting.

The full Sunday and Monday board

Here are the consensus ranges from the major books for games not covered in our standalone previews. (Jaguars at Ravens, Bengals vs. Falcons in Madrid, Giants at Eagles and Cowboys at Colts each have their own breakdown on the blog this week.)

Monday night: Bills at Vikings

This is the marquee game of the week. Buffalo leads the league in scoring and just beat Baltimore 36-10. Minnesota, which owns the league's best scoring defense, suffered its first loss of the season in Detroit, where Jahmyr Gibbs ran for 153 yards. The market makes Buffalo a field-goal favorite on the road.

For fantasy, Josh Allen is a locked-in QB1 regardless of opponent, but Minnesota's defense is the toughest test he will face this half of the season. Temper expectations for secondary Bills pass catchers. On the Vikings' side, Kyler Murray needs a clean week of practice after a physical loss in Detroit; any limitation would likely push the total down.

The double-digit favorites

Three home teams are laying 9.5 or more: Seattle against Arizona, Kansas City against the Jets and San Francisco against Las Vegas.

Seattle -11 is the most interesting. The Seahawks were beaten in all three phases by the Bears and went 1-for-11 on third down, but Arizona is dealing with its own quarterback questions and running back Jeremiyah Love has a new ankle injury. A big spread implies a positive game script for Seattle's run game and a get-right spot for Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

Kansas City -9.5 to -10 reflects the Jets' losing start and the noise around Garrett Wilson, who has said he will not ask for a trade. The Chiefs are coming off a loss in Denver, and a big home number suggests the market expects a bounce-back with Rashee Rice back in the lineup.

San Francisco -9.5 comes with one of the week's highest totals, 51.5. That makes the 49ers' offense a strong fantasy stack, and it signals that the Raiders' pass catchers could get garbage-time volume.

Highest and lowest totals

The highest totals on the board belong to Bengals-Falcons, Cowboys-Colts and Raiders-49ers, all around 51.5 or higher. These are the games to target for DFS stacks and the matchups where fantasy managers should start borderline players with confidence.

The lowest totals belong to Giants-Eagles (about 40), Texans-Chargers (around 42) and Jaguars-Ravens (around 42.5). Expect field-position games with few explosive plays. Fantasy managers should downgrade secondary receivers in these matchups, and those games are prime spots to stream defenses.

Three spots that stand out

Packers at Patriots. New England is a short home favorite. With A.J. Brown and TreVeyon Henderson both missing last week in Miami, the Patriots' injury report will drive this line more than any other factor this week. If both return, expect the spread to tick up.

Lions at Dolphins. Detroit is laying a touchdown on the road after beating Minnesota, but linebacker Jack Campbell's neck injury and a season-ending hamstring injury to Jimmy Rolder make the Lions' defense thinner than usual. The total in the upper 40s to 50 reflects that. Gibbs is a top-three back this week.

Broncos at Panthers. Denver is a short road favorite after its comeback over Kansas City, and rookie Jonah Coleman's emergence makes the Broncos' backfield one to watch. A total in the mid-40s points to a grind, which favors the team with the steadier run game.

The Verdexed angle

Markets move toward injury news, and Week 9 has an unusual amount of it: quarterback questions in Baltimore, Arizona and Minnesota, plus key absences in New England and Detroit. The opening lines above will not be the closing lines. Verdexed's model publishes its full Week 9 board in the picks piece at /blog/nfl-week-9-picks-2026, and live win probabilities are on the /nfl/predictions page, so compare the model's view to these numbers before kickoff.

What to do now: prioritize players in the three high-total games, stream defenses facing the Ravens, Eagles and Chargers, and wait for Wednesday's injury reports before locking any bets tied to the Patriots, Vikings or Cardinals.
