Latest news

  • Karlsson scored an empty-net goal and blocked three shots in Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Senators.

Karlsson ended a three-game slide with the late tally. The 33-year-old center is up to three goals, three assists, 23 shots on net, 12 blocks and a minus-2 rating through 14 appearances this season. That's a pretty similar pace to what he did last year prior to a long-term lower-body issue. Karlsson remains in a second-line role and should be able to chip in at or above a 40-point pace as long as he can stay healthy.

  • Karlsson scored a goal on two shots in Tuesday's 5-2 win over the Predators.

Karlsson contributed to Vegas' balanced offensive performance, finding the back of the net in the second period. His ability to contribute in multiple situations makes him a useful fantasy option in deeper leagues, especially when his scoring remains consistent. He has cracked the scoresheet in three of his last four games and has found the twine in back-to-back contests, so he's trending in the right direction.

  • Karlsson scored a goal on three shots and blocked two shots in Monday's 4-2 loss to the Wild.

Karlsson brought Vegas within one goal at 9:25 of the third period, finishing a two-on-one rush with Brett Howden after receiving a pass in the high slot. The goal was Karlsson's first of the season and briefly gave the Golden Knights hope of overcoming a three-goal deficit, but they couldn't get the job done. The veteran center, who signed a two-year extension with the Golden Knights on Sept. 30, has endured a slow start to the season with just two points in his first seven appearances. He's a strong candidate for a bounce-back performance, but right now, he isn't doing much from a fantasy perspective.

  • Karlsson signed a two-year, $13.5 million contract extension with the Golden Knights on Wednesday, per Jesse Granger of The Athletic.

Karlsson will play out the final season of his eight-year, $47.2 million contract before his new deal begins with the 2027-28 campaign. Although his upcoming $6.75 million cap hit is a somewhat modest increase in the context of the ballooning salary cap, it's also a reflection of his recent difficulties. He had four goals and seven points across just 14 regular-season appearances in 2025-26, and he finished the 2024-25 regular season with nine goals and 29 points in 53 outings. Karlsson is capable of serving in a top-six capacity, as evidenced by his 30 goals and 60 points in 70 regular-season appearances in 2023-24, but his injury history and inconsistent offensive production make him something of a risk.

  • General manager Kelly McCrimmon indicated Thursday that Karlsson (wrist) is a full participant to begin training camp, Danny Webster of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.

Karlsson suffered a wrist injury during Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Finals that required offseason surgery, but he appears to have recovered in time for training camp ahead of the 2026-27 season. The 33-year-old has missed significant time due to injuries across the past two years, as he was limited to 14 regular-season appearances during the 2025-26 campaign due to a lower-body injury. He's made 67 regular-season appearances across the past two years, and he logged 13 goals, 23 assists, 50 blocked shots, 23 hits and eight PIM during that time.

  • Karlsson will undergo surgery Wednesday for a broken wrist, per Jesse Granger of The Athletic.

Karlsson left Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Finals on Thursday due to the injury, and he didn't play in Game 6 on Sunday. He had three goals and nine points in 15 playoff appearances this year. The 33-year-old also recorded four goals and seven points in 14 regular-season outings, but he missed the bulk of the campaign because of a lower-body injury. It's the second straight year that Karlsson has missed a significant chunk of time -- he was limited to 53 regular-season games and 11 playoff outings in 2024-25.
