Mayfield played for the fourth straight game in Thursday's 5-3 loss to the Hurricanes.
Mayfield has filled in for Ryan Pulock (upper body), who is slated to miss most or all of November. However, the Islanders' signing of Ben Hutton could eventually add some pressure to Mayfield's spot in the lineup. Mayfield has no points in six outings this season, adding four shots on net, eight hits, eight blocked shots, 12 PIM and a plus-2 rating.

Mayfield has picked up four assists over his last 10 contests while playing in a third-pairing role. The 33-year-old blueliner isn't flashy in any area, but he does enough to stick in the lineup. He's earned 14 points, 67 shots on net, 73 hits, 79 blocked shots, 83 PIM and a minus-10 rating over 76 outings this season, matching his point total from the previous two campaigns combined (107 games).

Mayfield recorded his first multi-point game of the season Saturday with a goal six minutes after sliding the primary assist on Anders Lee's tally in the second period. With the pair of points, Mayfield now has two goals, eight assists, 74 shots on net, 55 hits and 66 blocked shots across 58 appearances this season.
