Lomberg signed a two-year, $2.6 million contract with the Blue Jackets on Wednesday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
Lomberg appeared in just 57 regular-season games with the Flames during the 2025-26 campaign, generating four goals, five assists, 129 hits, 59 PIM and 17 blocked shots while averaging 9:03 of ice time. After losing out on playing time late last season, Lomberg will attempt to carve out a role with his new team on a two-year agreement.

Lomberg was a healthy scratch for the fifth straight game in Saturday's 5-3 win over the Ducks.
The Flames have gotten a look at Matvei Gridin in the lineup, leaving Lomberg out for 11 of the team's last 13 contests. The 31-year-old Lomberg probably wouldn't be the first choice to rotate in currently, as Aydar Suniev and Brennan Othmann are both younger options to fill a spot on the wings, as well as Tyson Gross, who can play center. Lomberg has nine points, 129 hits, 59 PIM and 53 shots on net over 57 appearances this season, and it would be surprising to see him get much of a chance to add to those totals.

Lomberg capitalized on a turnover in the second period to produce his third goal in his last five games. The 31-year-old was scratched four times between Nov. 19 and Dec. 2, but his recent play has restored his status on the fourth line. The winger has four points, 35 shots on net, 91 hits, 48 PIM and a plus-2 rating through 34 appearances this season.

Lomberg scored at 15:45 of the first period and then fought the much larger Jeremy Lauzon right after the ensuing faceoff. With two goals over his last three games, Lomberg is finally finding his scoring touch. He's now at three points, 32 shots on net, 83 hits, 36 PIM and a plus-1 rating over 32 appearances in a fourth-line role.

Lomberg tied the game at 2-2 in the first period. The 31-year-old's tally was his first of the year, and it's just his second point in 30 appearances. That lack of offense led to him getting challenged for his spot on the fourth line in late November and early December, but he's now played in six straight games. He's racked up 82 hits, 31 PIM, 31 shots on net and an even plus-minus rating this season, and he provides plenty of intangibles on the ice, though they won't often lead to fantasy production.
