  • Johnston (lower body) will be activated from injured reserve ahead of his return to the lineup against the Rangers on Tuesday, Jeremy Rutherford of The Athletic reports.

    Following a seven-game absence with a lower-body injury, Johnston will replace Aleksanteri Kaskimaki on the fourth line against the Rangers on Tuesday. The 32-year-old Johnston has contributed one assist, three shots on net, four blocked shots and 27 hits in six appearances this season.

    Johnston wasn't available for Saturday's game against the Predators after tweaking something against the Wild on Thursday. Johnston's absence Saturday led to the Blues running with 11 forwards and seven defensemen, which resulted in Theo Lindstein drawing back into the lineup. St. Louis will begin a five-game homestand Tuesday against Winnipeg.

    Johnston had three goals, 14 points, 107 PIM and 192 hits in 62 regular-season outings with Anaheim in 2025-26. The 32-year-old should be in the mix for a fourth-line spot with the Blues, but he'll probably also spend a fair amount of time as a healthy scratch.

    Johnston hasn't played since March 10 against Winnipeg, but he has been a regular at playoff practices. According to Cavanagh, head coach Joel Quenneville said ahead of Game 6 of Round 1 against Edmonton on Thursday that Johnston was "capable of playing." However, it seems that Johnston will be a healthy scratch for Monday's Game 1 matchup against Vegas.
