Ristolainen's placement on injured reserve was expected after head coach Rick Tocchet announced that the 32-year-old blueliner would miss roughly two weeks. Ristolainen had already missed nine games due to the same hand issue earlier in the season, but the injury flared back up in Saturday's clash against the Ducks. When healthy, he's been solid with a goal, five shots on net, seven hits and seven blocked shots across four appearances this season. In his absence, Cam York has been activated off injured reserve and should take on some of the minutes vacated by Ristolainen.

The Flyers announced Monday that Ristolainen is expected to miss approximately two weeks due to an upper-body injury.
Ristolainen returned to game action Saturday against the Ducks following a nine-game absence due to a hand injury. However, head coach Rick Tocchet said Monday that Ristolainen aggravated the issue, per Jordan Hall of NBC Sports Philadelphia, which will result in another multi-week absence. Ristolainen could return at some point in the first half of November, but the Flyers' blue line will get a boost before then as Cam York (upper body) has been practicing recently and appears to be trending toward a return.

Ristolainen hasn't played since Oct. 3, but he is getting close to a return. He remains on injured reserve and will miss his sixth consecutive game against Detroit on Thursday. However, he seems to be closer to day-to-day at this point. The Flyers return home for Saturday's game against the Senators, but it's not yet clear whether Ristolainen will get the green light to suit up in that matchup.
