Myers was put on waivers by Toronto on Thursday, James Mirtle of The Athletic reports.
Myers had two assists and 22 PIM in 39 regular-season outings with the Maple Leafs in 2025-26. Although he got a fair amount of work at the top level last year, that's because Toronto dealt with significant injuries to its blue line. If the Maple Leafs have better luck on the injury front this season, then Myers might spend the vast majority of the campaign in the minors.

Myers has just two assists over 34 outings this season. The 29-year-old defenseman fills a bottom-four role when he plays, offering little fantasy upside. He has added 37 shots on net, 49 hits, 45 blocked shots, 18 PIM and a minus-8 rating.

The assist was Myers' first point of the season. He was scratched for six of seven games between Nov. 13-28, but he's since played in three straight contests. However, the team's waiver claim for Troy Stecher on Saturday has seemingly cost Myers a lineup spot, even with both of Chris Tanev (upper body) and Brandon Carlo (lower body) still unavailable. Myers has played in 10 of the Maple Leafs' 20 games, racking up 13 shots on net, 10 hits, 12 blocked shots, six PIM and a minus-7 rating while failing to record a point so far.

Myers scored a goal in a 4-3 overtime win over the Red Wings on Thursday.
It was Myers' second goal of the season in his 36th game. He took a cross-ice pass at the top of the right circle and danced around multiple opponents before wiring the puck between Cam Talbot's pads from the bottom of the circle. Myers looked like a real goal-scorer, but he will be hard-pressed to see regular ice time in the postseason. He logged two goals, three assists, 76 hits and 42 blocks during the regular season.
