  • Back (finger) was placed on long-term injured reserve Saturday.

    Back is expected to miss 4-6 weeks with a broken finger, so moving to LTIR won't impact his return timeline. Before going down, the center had an assist, two PIM, four shots on net, five hits and nine blocked shots over seven outings this season. In Back's absence, Colin Blackwell should continue to see a consistent role.

  • Head coach Glen Gulutzan said Friday that Back broke his finger and will miss 4-6 weeks, Robert Tiffin of NHL.com reports.

    Back exited Wednesday's game against the Avalanche and was placed on injured reserve Friday. He's slated to miss at least a month after being diagnosed with a broken finger, and it's possible the Stars move him to long-term injured reserve at some point.

    Back ended a 14-game goal drought when he tied the game at 1-1 in the middle of the second period. The 25-year-old has a goal and an assist over his last two outings, so he's starting to chip in a bit more from the fourth line. He's at five goals, 10 points, 29 shots on net, 29 blocked shots, 21 hits and a plus-6 rating over 54 appearances, making it unlikely he'll be a consistent depth scorer.
