Mikkola scored the game-winning goal and added an assist in Tuesday's 5-1 win over the Jets.
The 30-year-old blueliner gave the Panthers a 2-0 lead midway through the first period when his centering pass deflected home off Mario Ferraro's stick. Mikkola has been held off the scoresheet in 11 of 13 games to begin the season but has multi-point efforts in the other two, producing two goals, four points, 20 shots on net, 15 hits, 15 blocked shots, 14 PIM and a plus-3 rating. Tuesday's game-winner was the first of his career.

Mikkola had a goal and an assist Saturday in an 8-3 win over the Kraken.
He finished plus-3 and had three shots, one block and one hit. The points were Mikkola's first of the season. He's much better known for his hitting and blocks than offense. Mikkola's best offensive regular season came in 2024-25 when he scored six goals and added 16 assists on 116 shots. However, he has delivered as many as 198 hits and 124 blocks in a single campaign, and that may help you in pylon formats. Mikkola has nine of each this year.

Mikkola was sidelined by a knee injury at the end of 2025-26, but his recovery was expected to be 4-6 weeks at the time. His presence on the ice for training camp suggests he has no lingering injury concerns heading into the new season. The 30-year-old will be in line to fill a shutdown role in the top four again in 2026-27 after posting 11 points, 116 hits, 81 blocked shots and a minus-1 rating over 68 appearances last year.

Mikkola (knee) is expected to miss 4-6 weeks, Jameson Olive of the Panthers' official site reports Monday.
According to the NHL media site, Mikkola has been moved to injured reserve. He sustained the injury in Friday's 4-1 loss to Calgary, and he is poised to miss the remainder of the 2025-26 regular season. Mikkola provided three goals, 11 points, 68 shots on net, 81 blocked shots and 116 hits over 68 appearances this campaign.

Mikkola was hurt in the third period after taking contact to his knee. The Panthers have already been rotating players out of the lineup, so if this injury is even of moderate severity, the 29-year-old defenseman could get shut down.
