  • Paul scored an empty-net goal, added two PIM and logged two hits in Monday's 3-1 win over the Sharks.

Paul snapped a three-game slide with the late insurance tally. The 31-year-old took on a second-line role Monday, replacing John Tavares (lower body), who could miss most of November. Paul doesn't have the same level of scoring talent, but he could get a bump while alongside new linemates. Through 10 contests, he's provided two goals, three assists, nine shots on net, 20 hits and nine blocked shots.

  • Paul picked up two assists Saturday in a 6-3 win over the Avalanche.

Paul has four points (one goal, three assists) and seven shots in six games. He's working to rebound from an injury-impaired 2025-26, when he could skate in only 51 games and put up just 15 points (seven goals, eight assists). Paul has already recorded 10 hits, which puts him on track to deliver a career best in that category. There's real value in a 40-45 point, 140-hit winger who also gets second power-play time.

  • Paul scored a goal on two shots and blocked three shots in Thursday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Golden Knights.

Paul was given credit for the Maple Leafs' third goal, which came on a rocket of a shot from Darren Raddysh that deflected on the way in. Through five games this season, Paul has two points, seven shots on net, nine hits, five blocked shots and a minus-3 rating while skating in a third-line role. He was limited to 15 points in 51 regular-season outings last year with the Lightning, but he had topped the 40-point mark in the two campaigns before that injury-affected downturn. At best, he's an option for banger leagues who can provide enough streaky offense to catch some attention in standard formats in short bursts.

  • Paul (undisclosed) will be in the lineup against Montreal on Tuesday, per Dave McCarthy of NHL.com.

After getting banged up at the end of the preseason, Paul will play in the first game of the 2026-27 campaign. He notched seven goals, 15 points, 68 shots on net and 75 hits in 51 regular-season games for Tampa Bay in 2025-26.

  • Head coach Jim Hiller said Thursday that Paul (undisclosed) is considered day-to-day, David Alter of The Hockey News reports.

Paul exited Wednesday's preseason game against the Senators due to his injury, and Hiller initially downplayed the severity of the issue. However, Hiller said during his press availability Thursday that he can't say with certainty whether Paul will be available for Tuesday's Opening Night matchup against Montreal.

  • Paul (undisclosed) left Wednesday's preseason game versus the Senators early, but head coach Jim Hiller didn't think the issue was significant, David Alter of The Hockey News reports.

Paul's removal from the game appears to be more on the precautionary side. The forward will have nearly a week to rest up before Opening Night versus the Canadiens on Tuesday. Assuming he's healthy, Paul should feature in a middle-six role to begin 2026-27.
