Havelid (upper body) was assigned to AHL San Jose on Tuesday.
Havelid appeared on the Sharks' injured non-roster list Monday. However, his demotion to the minors suggests he should be available to play.

Havelid was placed on non-roster injured reserve by the Sharks on Monday, Curtis Pashelka of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Havelid dealt with an upper-body injury during the Sharks' rookie camp earlier this month, but he returned to practice to begin training camp, so it's unclear whether his placement on non-roster injured reserve is related to the issue. It's not yet clear when he'll return to full health, but he'll likely head to the minors once he's given the green light to return to game action.

Havelid (upper body) was on the ice for practice Thursday, Curtis Pashelka of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Havelid was held out of the Sharks' rookie games over the weekend. The 22-year-old is set to play with AHL San Jose during 2026-27 after logging 15 points in 44 regular-season contests with the Barracuda last year.

Havelid has been ruled out for the Sharks' upcoming rookie showcase due to an upper-body injury, Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now reports Friday.
Although Havelid will be held out over the weekend due to his upper-body injury, AHL San Jose head coach John McCarthy doesn't believe that the issue will impact the 22-year-old's availability for the start of training camp. Havelid made 44 regular-season appearances in the AHL last year and recorded five goals, 10 assists and 16 PIM.

Havelid signed an entry-level contract with the Sharks on Friday.
Havelid had an assist across 19 regular-season appearances with Linkopings of the Swedish Hockey League in 2024-25. Although that's not much offensive production, keep in mind that the 21-year-old defenseman was competing against more seasoned veterans. He had a larger impact on offense with Djurgardens of HockeyAllsvenskan, which is Sweden's second-tier league, recording two goals and 14 points across 18 regular-season outings this year. Havelid will probably start his time in North America in the minors, but he could develop into an impact player for the Sharks after being selected with the No. 45 overall pick in the 2022 NHL Draft.

Havelid was selected 45th overall by the Sharks in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft on Friday.
Havelid's father, Niclas, played 628 NHL games, mostly with Anaheim and Atlanta. He has been involved in both a management and coaching role for the Linkoping program that produced Mattias for nearly a decade. The younger Havelid has played primarily for Linkoping's junior team, although he did see 23 games worth of SHL action this past season. Havelid, who is most known for his offensive abilities, was named MVP of the Swedish Jr. playoffs, in addition to leading all defenders in goals (4), assists (8) and points (12) at the World U18's. Havelid is going to have his detractors simply because he's 5-foot-9 and barely 170 pounds, but the offensive talents and above-average speed give Havelid a real chance of carving out a productive NHL career.
