Capobianco (leg) was placed on injured reserve Saturday, per Robert Tiffin of NHL.com.
In a corresponding move, Dallas activated Esa Lindell (lower body) from injured reserve. Capobianco is expected to miss about four weeks because of a suspected leg injury. He hasn't posted a point in five appearances with Dallas in 2026-27, but he has contributed three shots on net, three blocked shots, two hits and four PIM.

After initial reports regarding Capobianco's injury expected him to miss at least one week, he's likely going to be sidelined significantly longer that following his recent MRI. It's a tough loss for the Stars and Capobianco, who had posted three shots on net, four PIM, two hits and three blocked shots across his first five appearances of the season. In his absence, Trey Taylor is expected to make his NHL debut Thursday and likely play until Esa Lindell (lower body) is activated from injured reserve. Barring any setbacks, Capobianco should have a chance to rejoin the Stars' lineup prior to the start of December.

Head coach Glen Gulutzan doesn't believe Capobianco is going to be out long term, but ultimately, the MRI should give Dallas more information. The 29-year-old Capobianco has no points, four PIM, two hits and three blocks in five appearances this season. Dallas is down to five healthy defensemen, so the Stars are likely to promote a blueliner from the AHL before Thursday's game against Montreal.

Capobianco sustained an apparent leg injury in Tuesday's game versus the Devils, and there was no update on his status from head coach Glen Gulutzan after the contest, Lia Assimakopoulos of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Capobianco couldn't put weight on his left leg as he was helped from the ice in the third period of the contest, Stars radio analyst Bruce LeVine reports. Capobianco joins Esa Lindell (lower body) as injured Dallas defensemen, which could force the team into a roster move ahead of Thursday's game versus the Canadiens.

Capobianco signed a two-year, $1.75 million contract with the Stars on Wednesday.
Capobianco's deal is a one-way contract in both seasons, giving him stable money even if he ends up in the AHL at some point. He is the eighth blueliner the Stars have under contract for 2026-27 at this point in the offseason. The 28-year-old logged five points, 18 shots on net, 27 blocked shots and 12 hits over 33 regular-season appearances in 2025-26, but he didn't play during the Stars' first-round playoff exit against the Wild.

Capobianco was scratched for the eighth consecutive game in Thursday's 7-2 win over the Oilers.
Capobianco went 10 games without a point prior to this run in the press box. The Stars beefed up their blue line at the trade deadline, picking up Tyler Myers from the Canucks while also getting Lian Bichsel back from an injury. Capobianco may mix in occasionally, but with Dallas carrying nine blueliners on the NHL roster, there's not a lot of room for him to play regularly. He has five points, 26 blocked shots, 17 shots on net and 12 hits over 31 appearances this season.
