Latest news

  • Marchenko (lower body) was placed on injured reserve Thursday, per David Alter of The Hockey News.

Marchenko exited Monday's 5-2 loss to Calgary with a lower-body injury, and he's facing a multi-game absence. His move to IR was likely made to free up a roster spot so the Maple Leafs can call up an extra forward prior to Saturday's clash in Vancouver. The 26-year-old forward's absence is a tough loss for the Maple Leafs, as he posted six goals and 14 points across his first 14 appearances with his new squad. His status will be monitored closely next week, but he's an obvious IR-stash candidate in fantasy while sidelined.

  • The Maple Leafs announced Wednesday that Marchenko (lower body) is considered week-to-week, Joshua Kloke of The Athletic reports.

Marchenko exited Monday's matchup against the Flames due to his lower-body injury, and he's facing a multi-game absence. It's not yet clear whether the Maple Leafs plan to place the 26-year-old on injured reserve while he recovers, but Benoit-Olivier Groulx is a candidate to see increased playing time while Marchenko is sidelined.

  • Marchenko (lower body) will not return to Monday's game in Calgary, Joshua Kloke of The Athletic reports.

Marchenko fell awkwardly after being hit in the second period, and he was unable to come back into the game after exiting. Head coach Jim Hiller might have an update on Marchenko's status after the game, but if there is no information provided on the winger's health, Marchenko can be considered day-to-day ahead of Wednesday's game in Seattle.

  • Marchenko delivered two assists in a 7-2 win over Edmonton on Saturday.

One of the helpers came on the power play. Marchenko's point streak stands at four games and five points (two goals, three assists), and he has five goals and three assists in his last six contests. Marchenko is roaring along at better than a point-per-game pace (six goals, eight assists; 13 games), and he has 34 shots so far. His $75 million ($12.5 million AAV) contract could be a bargain if this continues, especially with the cap expected to rise significantly over the next two seasons.

  • Marchenko pocketed a power-play goal Thursday in a 5-4 win over the Rangers.

Marchenko has three points (two goals, one assist) in his last three games, and he has 12 points (including six goals) across 12 games to begin the 2026-27 campaign. Four of his goals and seven total points have come with the man advantage. Marchenko has been the model of consistency -- he has been held off the scoresheet just twice this season, and he's off to a strong start to begin his tenure with the Maple Leafs.

  • Marchenko scored a power-play goal in 6-2 win over Columbus on Tuesday.

It was Marchenko's first game back in Columbus after his Sept. 28 trade to Toronto. He is on a modest two-game, two-point streak (one goal, one assist; four shots) and has 11 points (five goals, six assists; 29 shots) in 11 games in his new uniform. At this rate, Marchenko will raise the bar with a new career high. The season is still young, but his 31-goal, 74-point high water mark (2024-25) is well within reach.
