Sherwood scored a shorthanded goal on five shots and added seven hits in Saturday's 6-4 loss to the Bruins.
Sherwood tied the game in the second period with an unassisted breakaway goal, his second tally of the season, and his seven hits provided extra value as a physical threat. That combination of physical production and occasional scoring makes him particularly useful in leagues rewarding hits, although his limited offensive responsibilities could restrict his ceiling in points-based formats. Through 12 games, Sherwood has just six points (two goals, four assists) but also has 68 hits.

Sherwood has three assists in his last two games and five points (one goal, four helpers) in 11 games to begin the 2026-27 campaign. He also has 61 hits over his first 11 regular-season appearances, which leads the NHL. Sherwood career-best year came in 2024-25 when he put up 40 points, including 19 goals, and a whopping 462 hits. It's almost impossible to replicate that bruise category, but he's off to a strong start this year.

Sherwood has a goal in four outings with the Sharks this season. Macklin Celebrini (lower body) and Adam Gaudette (upper body) might both be available to face Edmonton, so the Sharks have a lot of uncertainty regarding their lineup for Saturday.
