Yamamoto continues to impress from the third line. He has three goals, four assists, 20 shots on net, 15 hits and a plus-5 rating over seven appearances, which has all but solidified his place in the lineup after he started the year as a healthy scratch. Yamamoto can do a little of everything, though he won't stay at a point-per-game pace all year. It would take a significant slump to see him come out of the lineup any time soon.

Yamamoto started the year as a healthy scratch, but he's now played in five straight games. He's produced two goals, three assists, 12 shots on net, 12 hits and a plus-2 rating. That kind of offense makes it unlikely he comes out of the lineup anytime soon, and he may even be worth adding as a depth forward in fantasy. Yamamoto won't stay this hot since he's on the third line, but he's showing he can still contribute in the NHL.

Yamamoto wasted no time in getting involved in his season debut Saturday, as he leveled the score at one apiece just over 10 minutes into the opening period. He later recorded a secondary helper on Anders Lee's tally late in the second period. The 28-year-old Yamamoto had a solid bounce-back season in 2025-26, where he compiled 13 goals and 23 points across 59 regular-season outings. He will likely continue to rotate roles throughout Utah's bottom six in the new season, where he should be in line for a decent chunk of scoring opportunities.
