Head coach Todd McLellan said Thursday that Gibson (lower body) is considered day-to-day, Michael Whitaker of The Hockey News reports.
Gibson exited Tuesday's game against the Lightning due to his lower-body injury. Daniil Tarasov had already been expected to start Thursday's home game against the Golden Knights, but it appears as though Gibson will be unable to dress as the backup for at least one game. Gibson continues to be evaluated by the team, per Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press, while Michal Postava will presumably serve as the backup if Tarasov is officially named the starter Thursday.

Gibson gave up two goals on 11 shots while playing all of the first period. It's not immediately obvious when he sustained the injury. If he is forced to miss additional time, Daniil Tarasov will take over as the starter and the Red Wings will need to call up a goalie from AHL Grand Rapids, likely Michal Postava, to fill out the roster.

Gibson will guard the road goal against Tampa Bay on Tuesday, per Benjamin Pierce of the Lightning's official site.
Gibson will get the second half of Detroit's back-to-back after Daniil Tarasov played in Monday's 5-3 win over Florida. The 33-year-old Gibson has a 4-5-1 record, a 3.36 GAA and an .860 save percentage in 10 appearances this season. Tampa Bay (8-3-2) sits fifth in the league with 3.69 goals per game this campaign.

Gibson made just 10 saves in Saturday's 5-4 loss to the Blues.
The Detroit defense did a good job of keeping pucks from getting through to Gibson -- William Wallinder blocked six shots all on his own -- which made it all the more painful when the veteran netminder couldn't keep hold of a 4-2 lead in the third period. Through his first 10 outings this season, Gibson has gone 4-5-1 with a 3.37 GAA and .860 save percentage, numbers which could make it difficult for him to hang onto the top job in the Wings crease if Daniil Tarasov (1.40 GAA, .940 save percentage in four appearances) stays healthy and keeps playing well.

Gibson has alternated wins and losses across his past three appearances, but he'll attempt to pick up a second consecutive win Saturday. Across his last four outings, the 33-year-old has gone 3-1-0 with a 2.41 GAA and .892 save percentage.
