Solovyov was recalled from AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Sunday.
Solovyov began the regular season on Pittsburgh's roster, but he didn't appear in any games before being waived and subsequently sent down. He'll provide additional depth for the Penguins after Samuel Girard sustained an undisclosed injury against the Golden Knights on Saturday.

Solovyov was put on waivers by Pittsburgh on Friday, per Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet.
Solovyov made Pittsburgh's Opening Night roster, but he was a healthy scratch for the Penguins' first four games. He's expected to be sent to the minors to get playing time if he goes unclaimed. The 26-year-old had a goal and eight points in 30 regular-season appearances between Colorado and Pittsburgh in 2025-26.

Solovyov signed a one-year, $850,000 contract extension with Pittsburgh on Thursday.
After Solovyov was acquired by the Penguins in a trade with Colorado, he logged 14 regular-season games for the club in which he notched five assists, 16 hits and 14 blocks while averaging 14:06 of ice time. It's a low-risk deal for the Penguins, one that figures to primarily bolster their defensive depth, with Solovoyv unlikely to be a regular on the blue line for the club this upcoming season.

Solovyov notched an assist in Wednesday's 6-5 overtime loss to the Hurricanes.
Solovyov has two helpers over six games since he returned from a six-game stint as a healthy scratch. The defenseman is at eight points, 20 shots on net, 30 hits, 29 blocked shots and a plus-2 rating over 27 appearances between the Penguins and the Avalanche this season. Solovyov may not be a full-time player for the Penguins, and he'll be on the third pairing when in the lineup.

Solovyov recorded an assist and a plus-3 rating in Thursday's 6-2 win over the Blackhawks.
This was Solovyov's debut for the Penguins after he was traded from the Avalanche earlier in the month. The 25-year-old didn't have to wait long for his first point, setting up Ryan Shea's goal in the second period. Solovyov has a total of four points, 14 shots on net, 20 hits, 20 blocked shots and a plus-2 rating over 17 appearances this season. He may get to play regularly while Ryan Graves (lower body), Jack St. Ivany (hand) and Caleb Jones (lower body) are out, though Connor Clifton is also in the mix for third-pairing minutes.

Solovyov was acquired by the Penguins from the Avalanche on Tuesday in exchange for Valtteri Puustinen and a 2026 seventh-round pick.
Solovyov's acquisition could be an indication that both Erik Karlsson (lower body) and Caleb Jones (lower body) are going to be out longer term. In order to make room for the blueliner on the roster, the Pens sent Joona Koppanen down to the minors in a move earlier Tuesday. In his 16 NHL games this year, the 25-year-old Solovyov has notched one goal, two assists and 19 hits while averaging just 11:34 of ice time.
