Malkin (lower body) will return to action for Thursday's game against the Bruins, Josh Getzoff of SportsNet Pittsburgh reports.
Malkin missed Tuesday's matchup against the Golden Knights due to his lower-body injury, but he took contact during Wednesday's practice session and has been cleared to return to game action a day later. The 40-year-old has recorded six goals, five assists, six PIM, three hits and two blocked shots while averaging 17:03 of ice time over his first 13 appearances of the regular season.

Malkin notched two assists in Thursday's 4-3 overtime loss to Utah.
The 40-year-old missed Saturday's 3-2 overtime win over Nashville due to illness, but he had plenty of time to recover ahead of Thursday's contest. Malkin set up tallies by Erik Karlsson in the second period and Ben Kindel late in the third. Malkin hasn't decided on his future beyond this season, but he certainly appears to have plenty left in the tank. He has delivered six goals and 11 points in his first 12 games of 2026-27.
