Luostarinen had gone 11 games without a point prior to Friday. The 28-year-old has a pair of multi-point efforts to his name this season, but he hasn't been a major factor on offense from the Panthers' third line. He's at two goals, two assists, 18 shots on net, 21 hits, 11 blocked shots, eight PIM and an even plus-minus rating over 14 appearances.

Luostarinen was hit by a shot attempt and underwent an evaluation following Saturday's game against the Wild, but he returned to practice Sunday and confirmed he is feeling good. The 28-year-old winger also mentioned that he would have returned to Saturday's clash if he was hit by the puck earlier in the game. To begin the 2026-27 season, Luostarinen has two goals, eight shots on net, nine hits and five blocked shots across five outings. He'll likely return to his role as the team's second-line left winger for Monday's game against the Sabres.

Luostarinen is signing an eight-year, $40 million contract extension with the Panthers on Wednesday, David Dwork of The Hockey News reports.
Luostarinen appeared in 73 regular-season games during the 2025-26 campaign -- his lowest mark since the 2020-21 season -- but remained productive, logging 11 goals, 22 assists, 121 hits, 57 blocked shots and 32 PIM while averaging 16:34 of ice time. After spending the last six seasons with Florida, he'll remain under contract with the team on a long-term deal.
