Barkey scored a power-play goal on two shots, added two PIM and logged three hits in Tuesday's 4-2 loss to the Wild.
The goal was Barkey's first of the season. He was limited by a lower-body injury to start the season, but with four points over his last seven games, his offense looks to be coming around. The 21-year-old is filling a middle-six role with power-play time. Overall, he has six points, 11 shots on net, 11 hits and a minus-2 rating over 14 appearances. He'll need to increase the shot volume to make gains as a scorer, though he should be in a position for at least modest success for the rest of the campaign.

Barkey (lower body) was activated off injured reserve Monday, per the NHL media site.
Barkey spent nearly a week on injured reserve to begin the regular season due to a lower-body injury he sustained during a preseason matchup. However, he'll make his regular-season debut Monday against the Lightning and is expected to be used as a winger during his first game back. Across 43 regular-season appearances with the Flyers last year, he recorded five goals, 12 assists, 43 hits, 19 blocked shots and 16 PIM while averaging 13:24 of ice time.

Barkey picked up the lower-body injury late in Monday's first period on a hit from Washington's Martin Fehervary. The 21-year-old Barkey made the most of his opportunities in 2025-26, where he posted five goals, 17 points, 43 shots on net and 43 hits across 43 regular-season outings before playing in all 10 postseason games. The Flyers' faith in the young center down the stretch makes him a safe bet to make the Opening Night roster, but his status will be monitored closely with the regular season quickly approaching. If he is to return in the preseason, his next chance to do so is Thursday against Boston.
