Cholowski was placed on waivers Tuesday, according to James Mirtle of The Athletic.
Assuming he clears, Cholowski will report to AHL Hartford. He picked up two assists, 12 shots on goal and 17 blocked shots in 17 appearances for New Jersey during the 2025-26 regular season. He also chipped in five assists in 13 regular-season games for AHL Utica last campaign.

Cholowski signed a two-year, $1.75 million contract with the Rangers on Thursday, Peter Baugh of The Athletic reports.
Cholowski has made 173 regular-season NHL appearances across seven appearances, and he's landed a multi-year deal ahead of the 2026-27 campaign. He made 17 regular-season appearances with the Devils last year, recording two assists and 17 blocked shots while averaging 14:40 of ice time.

This was Cholowski's second game in the lineup since his March 6 call-up from AHL Utica. The 28-year-old blueliner is getting a chance to play in place of Luke Hughes (undisclosed), who was shut down early this season to undergo a procedure.
