Ellis stopped 28 shots in Wednesday's 2-1 loss to the Senators.
The 26-year-old netminder took a shutout into the third period, but Shane Pinto banged home a rebound midway through the final frame to tie it up before Michael Amadio scored the winner with just over three minutes left. Ellis has started three of the last four games for the Sabres, going 2-1-0 while allowing eight goals on 88 shots (.909 save percentage) as he takes advantage of Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen's struggles this season.

Ellis will defend the home crease against the Senators on Wednesday, Mike Harrington of The Buffalo News reports.
Ellis entered the win column for the first time this season during Saturday's road win over San Jose before getting the night off against the Ducks on Sunday. However, he'll return to the crease Wednesday in a relatively favorable matchup against the Senators, who are tied for 16th in the NHL with 3.13 goals per game this year.

Ellis stopped 29 of 35 shots in Thursday's 7-6 win over the Ducks.
The Sabres led 7-3 at one point, but the Ducks made a push in the third period and nearly erased the deficit. Ellis was making his second start in a row, but the late fade didn't help his case for more playing time. He's posted a 3-1-0 record with a 3.11 GAA and an .880 save percentage over five outings this season. Expect to see Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen back between the pipes Saturday in Los Angeles to wrap up this road trip.

Ellis is expected to start on the road against Anaheim on Thursday, per Ducks PA announcer Phil Hulett.
Ellis will look to build off his 23-save shutout win over San Jose on Tuesday. He's 2-1-0 with a 2.29 GAA and a .902 save percentage in four outings in 2026-27. Anaheim is 5-6-1 and has averaged 3.08 goals per game this campaign.

Ellis recorded a 23-save shutout in Tuesday's 2-0 win over the Sharks.
Ellis hadn't played in the last five games, and given Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen's inconsistency in that stretch, it's fair to question why Ellis didn't get a chance earlier. The 26-year-old netminder is now 2-1-0 with eight goals allowed on 82 shots over four games this season. The Sabres have two more stops on their road trip -- Thursday in Anaheim and Saturday in Los Angeles. It seems likely Ellis will get another look before the team heads back to Buffalo.
