He should remain heavily involved for the Senators from his spot on the team's secondary power-play unit and middle-six role at even strength. Giroux delivered two assists in a 3-2 win over Toronto on Saturday.
The 38-year-old veteran of 1,013 NHL games looked sharp out of the gate Saturday. Giroux is on the third line and will see duty on the second power-play unit. He's settled into a groove where he delivers about 50 points, including double digits on the power play, while continuing to win at least 500 faceoffs. Last season, Giroux's faceoff efficiency was excellent (63.1 percent) with 504 wins, and he delivered 600 wins (61.5 percent) the year before. He still has fantasy value in his tank.

While Giroux's base salary is $2 million, he can earn an additional $3 million in performance bonuses. The right-shot forward might move around the lineup a bit in 2026-27, but he will probably play mostly in a middle-six role. The 2006 No. 22 overall pick supplied 14 goals, 49 points (13 on the power play), 138 shots and a plus-20 rating over 82 regular-season games in 2025-26, so he's proven to be a reliable contributor even at 38 years old, due in large part to his hockey sense.
