  • Nelson scored a goal on three shots in Saturday's 5-2 win over the Flames.

Nelson had gone six games without a goal, adding just two assists in that span. Despite the sluggish pace on offense recently, he remains in a second-line role. The veteran center now has four goals, five assists, 27 shots on net, 10 blocked shots, six hits and a plus-3 rating through 14 appearances.

  • Nelson scored a goal on two shots in Wednesday's 3-2 shootout loss to the Stars.

Nelson started the year with a three-point effort, but that's also what he's produced across the last six games combined. The veteran center has three goals, three helpers, 14 shots on net, six blocked shots and an even plus-minus rating across seven appearances. He remains in a second-line role, giving him a decent chance to contribute in any given game, but he's likely to be more of a supporting figure in the Avalanche's offense this year.

  • Nelson scored a goal on four shots in Saturday's 6-3 loss to the Maple Leafs.

Nelson has a point in each of his last two games and five (two goals, three assists) in five games this season. His four shots Saturday eclipsed the total number he fired to this point in the season (three). Nelson delivered one of the best seasons of his career in 2025-26 (33 goals, 32 assists and 186 shots; 81 games), and his roles as second-line pivot and cog on the second power-play unit should deliver another strong season. His power-play production may be slightly lower this season, though -- it may be hard for Nelson to put up 18 PPP from the second unit.

  • Nelson scored a goal and added two assists, all with the man advantage, in Wednesday's 8-4 win over the Kings.

Nelson was on the second power-play unit, but that didn't stop him from making a positive impact in that role. The 34-year-old center is coming off another strong year of 65 points and 186 shots on net in 81 regular-season outings in 2025-26. With a firm top-six role and an ability to maintain a high shooting percentage, Nelson should be a useful center option in fantasy.

  • Nelson scored an empty-net goal on three shots and went plus-2 in Monday's 5-2 win over the Wild in Game 4.

Nelson's two goals this postseason have both gone into empty nets. He's at three points over eight playoff outings, which isn't a lot of secondary scoring for a player in a second-line role. He's added 15 shots on net, 10 hits, nine blocked shots, eight PIM and a plus-3 rating while playing in all situations.

  • Nelson scored an empty-net goal on two shots and added two hits in Thursday's 4-2 win over the Kings in Game 3.

Nelson entered this contest on an 11-game goal drought, and he hadn't earned a point over his last four contests. He was able to snap the slump with an empty-netter, and he's added six shots on net, six hits, six blocked shots and an even plus-minus rating over three playoff games. Prior to this year, Nelson accumulated 27 goals and 27 assists over 85 postseason appearances across nine playoff runs.
