Latest news

  • Brisson scored three goals in AHL Toronto's 5-2 win over Hamilton on Sunday.

Brisson is running hot to start the year. He's earned five goals, two assists and a plus-1 rating over four contests for the Marlies so far. While joining a defending champion could account for some of the uptick in his offense, it's also possible the 24-year-old could emerge as a late bloomer. It remains to be seen if Brisson's strong AHL scoring will lead him to a call-up to the Maple Leafs.

  • Brisson scored twice and added an assist in AHL Toronto's 5-3 win over Hamilton on Saturday.

Brisson is on the scoresheet in just his second game with his new team. He racked up 37 points over 66 regular-season outings for AHL Hartford last year. Brisson was a first-round pick of Vegas in 2020, but he has yet to stick at the NHL level. He had an assist in three games for the Rangers in 2025-26, and it's unclear if he'll do enough to earn a call-up to the Maple Leafs in 2026-27.

  • Brisson was placed on waivers by the Maple Leafs on Thursday, James Mirtle of The Athletic reports.

Brisson agreed to a one-year, two-way contract with the Maple Leafs in early September after he wasn't tendered a qualifying offer from the Rangers during the offseason. He'll be left off the Maple Leafs' Opening Night roster and will head to AHL Toronto if he clears waivers.

  • Brisson signed a one-year, two-way contract with Toronto on Friday.

Brisson played in just three regular-season games for the Rangers last year, producing one assist, two shots and one hit while averaging 10:35 of ice time per game. Given the Leafs' forward depth, the 24-year-old center could be a fourth-line option at best, though he is more likely to play the bulk of his minutes in the minors.

  • Brisson was not tendered a qualifying offer from the Rangers on Monday, Mollie Walker of the New York Post reports.

Brisson spent the bulk of his time with AHL Hartford in 2025-26, generating 19 goals and 37 points across 66 outings. The 2020 first-round selection (No. 29 overall) also contributed one assist over three games with the Rangers last season. Considering that Brisson was a relatively high draft pick, he should have no problem finding a new team to sign with July 1, even if it's a two-way deal.

  • Brisson scored twice in AHL Hartford's 4-3 loss to Springfield on Saturday.

This was Brisson's first multi-point effort since March 17. He has 19 goals, 37 points and a minus-32 rating over 66 appearances this season. Brisson hasn't been able to get back to his peak levels from a couple of years ago. He'll be a restricted free agent this summer if he gets a qualifying offer.
