  • Point scored twice in a 4-2 win over the Red Wings on Tuesday.

It was his first multi-goal game of the 2026-27 season. Point's first came on the power play when he partially fanned on a one-timer in the slot, but the puck still slid five-hole on John Gibson. After his slow start, Point has seven points (four goals, three assists) during a five-game point streak, and he's up to 13 points (five goals, eight assists) in 14 games overall. The ice on his game is finally defrosting.

  • Point scored a goal Thursday in a 6-4 win over Winnipeg.

Point has quietly put up a three-game, four-point scoring streak that includes goals in back-to-back games. It's modest, but when you factor in that he's has just three goals in 12 games, this little run is like the sun breaking through the clouds. Point put up just 18 goals in 63 games during an injury-hampered 2025-26. However, his 14.0 shooting percentage last season was below his career average of 18.3 percent, and he's off to a similarly sluggish start this year (12.0 percent). It could be a simple explanation given the Lightning's lackluster power play (26th overall), but his skating simply hasn't been the same over the past two years.

  • Point scored a power-play goal on two shots in Saturday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Mammoth.

Point's goal was a momentous one in franchise history -- it was set up by Nikita Kucherov, who took sole possession of the franchise lead in all-time points on the play. The goal also ended a seven-game goal drought for Point. The 30-year-old center is at two goals, seven assists, 22 shots on net and a plus-4 rating across 11 appearances this season. He continues to fill a top-six role.

  • Point registered two assists (one on the power play) and three shots on goal in Friday's 6-3 loss to the Avalanche.

Point has five helpers over his last four contests. The 30-year-old center is up to eight points, 20 shots on net and a plus-5 rating over 10 appearances this season. It's concerning that Point's scoring woes from last year, when he was limited to 18 goals and 50 points in 63 regular-season outings, look to be continuing into 2026-27. He remains in a top-six role, but he has been bumped to the second line at even strength as he tries to find his finishing touch.

  • Point delivered two assists in Saturday's 4-2 win over Vancouver.

Point has one goal and five assists in eight games this season. He hasn't scored since Oct. 5 in a win over Philadelphia. Point had a tough year in 2025-26, putting up just 18 goals on 129 shots (14.0 percent) and 32 assists in 63 regular-season games. He's started 2026-27 slowly, too. He's now 30, which isn't old, but he needs to step things up to return to his elite goal-scoring form. Point averaged 46 goals, 89 points and 217 shots over the three seasons prior to last year. He's too talented to count out of a rebound. However, he has struggled to find shooting space, particularly in tight places, which he admitted to the media after last season.
