Matthews picked up two assists in a 3-2 loss to the Mammoth on Tuesday.
Matthews had five shots and rang the post at least once Tuesday in 20:01. His point streak is at five games and eight points (three goals, five assists), and he has 14 shots in that span. Overall, Matthew remains in the NHL's top-five scorers with 26 points (11 goals, 15 assists; nine PPP) and 51 shots in 17 games. He's had two seasons with at least 106 points, but stands to shatter that with his current 128-point pace.

Matthews scored a goal in a 4-2 win over Vancouver on Saturday.

Matthews scored a goal on four shots and added two power-play assists in Wednesday's 5-4 loss to the Kraken.
Matthews was united with Gavin McKenna on the top line and first power-play unit for this game. It worked wonders for both players -- they each notched three points despite the loss. Matthews has been a steady contributor early in the season with 10 goals, 13 assists, 44 shots on net, 14 blocked shots, nine hits and a plus-6 rating over 15 appearances. That puts him on pace for more than 50 goals, a mark he hasn't reached since the 2023-24 campaign, when he scored a career-high 69 times.

Matthews scored a goal on two shots in Saturday's 7-2 win over Edmonton.
It came on a nice 2-on-1 with Easton Cowan, who threaded a pass through the defender's feet to Matthews' tape, and he snapped a quick shot high inside the left post. Tristan Jarry had no chance. Matthews has nine goals, 10 assists and 39 shots in 13 games this season. He was held off the scoresheet the first two games this season, but after that, he's never gone more than one game without an offensive contribution.

Matthews had a goal and an assist in a 6-2 win over the Blue Jackets on Tuesday.
His goal stood as the winner. The snipe was Matthews' 436th goal in his 700th career game, tying Pavel Bure for the sixth-most through that mile marker. Only Bure's fellow Hall of Famers Wayne Gretzky (589), Mario Lemieux (580), Mike Bossy (542), Brett Hull (504) and Jari Kurri (454) lit the lamp more often in their first 700 NHL games. Matthews is on fire so far this season. He has five points (two goals, three assists) in his last two games and 18 points, including eight goals, in 11 contests. Both of those marks put him in a tie for second in the early NHL scoring races.

Matthews scored a power-play goal on three shots and added two assists, including one on the power play, in Monday's 3-1 win over the Sharks.
Matthews delivered his fourth multi-point performance of the season Monday and was a one-man wrecking crew, getting involved in each of the Maple Leafs' three goals while bringing his totals to seven goals and nine assists through 10 games. The Toronto captain has been particularly productive on the man advantage, already posting six power-play points (three goals, three assists). His established scoring ability, prominent power-play deployment and consistent production make him an elite fantasy option regardless of matchup in the early stages of the season.
