  • Wennberg (upper body) was placed on injured reserve Wednesday, Curtis Pashelka of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

    Wennberg has been sidelined for over a week due to his upper-body injury, and his placement on injured reserve isn't particularly surprising after the Sharks announced last week that the 32-year-old is considered week-to-week. It's not yet clear when Wennberg will be able to return to game action, but his move to injured reserve will allow the Sharks to call up some additional depth.

    Wennberg has already missed a game due to his upper-body problem. With the change to week-to-week, the veteran center could be a candidate for injured reserve should the club need the extra roster spot. In nine outings this year, Wennberg has yet to find the back of the net while producing just 14 shots, though he does have three helpers along the way.

    Wennberg has two helpers across seven games this season. The veteran center is filling a second-line role and seeing time in all situations, so there is potential for him to do more on offense. He showed that last year with a 55-point effort over 80 regular-season outings. In 2026-27, Wennberg has added 11 shots on net, seven blocked shots and a minus-3 rating.
