Kempe scored three goals, dished a power-play assist, added two PIM and went plus-2 in Wednesday's 7-2 win over the Sharks.
One of Kempe's goals also came with the man advantage. He had gone into his one-game absence due to an undisclosed injury on a bit of a cold stretch, but he broke out of it in a big way Wednesday. The 30-year-old forward is up to six goals, six assists, 45 shots on net, 18 hits, eight PIM and a plus-2 rating over 13 appearances. Kempe should continue to be one of the Kings' most reliable forwards.

Kempe (undisclosed) is slated to play Wednesday versus the Sharks, Zach Dooley of the Kings' official site reports.
Kempe missed Saturday's game against the Sabres, but he will return to a top-line role and should also be involved on the power play in Wednesday's matchup versus the Sharks. Kempe went five games without a goal prior to his absence, logging just two assists in that span.

Kempe is day-to-day and will miss at least one game. He has earned three goals, eight points, 41 shots on net, 18 hits and three blocked shots in 12 appearances this season. With Kempe unavailable, Martin Chromiak will make his NHL debut against the Sabres on Saturday.

Kempe cut the Kings' deficit to 2-1 just 52 seconds after the Capitals claimed a 2-0 lead. He later connected with his linemates Artemi Panarin and Alex Laferriere again to secure his first multi-goal game of the new season. Overall, the 30-year-old Kempe has three goals, six points, 23 shots on net and 16 hits across seven appearances. He's coming off back-to-back seasons with 35-plus goals and should challenge that threshold once again in 2026-27. With the Kings' top line heating up, Kempe is a strong fantasy option in all formats given his all-around coverage.

Both of Kempe's points came on the power play. The 30-year-old forward is expected to be one of the Kings' top forwards this season, though he'll have to do it without former linemate Anze Kopitar, who retired after last season. Kempe has topped the 70-point mark three years running with strong shot volume and 100-plus hits. He earned just 12 power-play points in 2025-26, so getting more effective with the man advantage will be critical for Kempe to maintain his established level of offense.

The Kings are facing elimination as soon as Sunday's Game 4, so they'll need more out of their top players. In previous playoff runs, Kempe collected 15 goals and 29 points across 28 appearances. Barring a miracle, this will be the fifth straight year with a first-round exit for the Kings.
