Latest news

  • The Brewers are expected to start Drohan on Thursday in Game 4 of the NLCS, Tom Verducci of SI.com reports.

Though he made 19 starts for the Brewers during the regular season, Drohan has not pitched in more than two weeks and is not stretched out to handle a regular starter's workload. Thus, it could be more of an opener assignment than a traditional start for the left-hander. Dustin May is a candidate to cover some innings out of the bullpen as the Brewers look to finish off the series sweep.

  • Drohan struck out two over 1.2 perfect innings to earn the save in Sunday's 6-4 win over the Cardinals.

Chad Patrick ran into trouble in the eighth inning, prompting Drohan to come into the game. Drohan did his job, throwing 13 of 21 pitches for strikes in this relief appearance, which could be a preview of his usage during the postseason. With his background as a starter, he'll likely be tasked with multi-inning assignments out of the bullpen in October. Drohan finished the regular season at a 4.19 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 125:44 K:BB across 124.2 innings over 33 games (19 starts). He also collected two saves and three holds.

  • Drohan took a no-decision Thursday in a 5-1 win over the Phillies, striking out two batters while allowing one run on three hits and two walks over 2.2 innings.

Drohan picked up his first start since Sept. 12, after the Brewers used him in relief for his prior two appearances, but he handled a limited workload and tossed just 47 pitches. Drohan is likely to shift back to a relief role if Milwaukee opts to include him on its postseason roster.

  • Drohan struck out two and allowed no hits and one walk over 1.2 scoreless innings of relief in Friday's 6-5 extra-inning victory over the Orioles.

After making starts in all but one of his 13 appearances from the start of June through Sept. 12, Drohan has now worked out of the bullpen in his last two outings. With the Brewers having pared down their rotation as the regular season winds down, Drohan is expected to continue prepping for a relief role heading into the playoffs.

  • Drohan didn't factor into the decision Saturday against the Reds, allowing five runs on five hits and two walks in 3.2 innings. He struck out four.

Drohan received plenty of run support, as the Brewers staked him to an early 4-0 lead, but he couldn't last long enough to qualify for the win Saturday. The rookie southpaw is showing signs of fatigue late in the season, conceding at least five runs while working four innings or fewer in consecutive outings. He'll try to right the ship his next time out in Baltimore, where he'll bring a 4.35 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 119:41 K:BB over 118 innings.

  • Drohan didn't factor into the decision in Friday's 10-7 win over the Reds, surrendering six runs on five hits and two walks over four innings. He struck out five.

The southpaw tied his season high in runs allowed while serving up multiple homers for just the second time in 28 appearances (17 starts), but Drohan got taken off the hook for his sixth loss when the Brewers erupted for five runs in the fifth. Drohan is approaching his career high in innings -- he's worked 128 frames this year between Triple-A and the majors, just shy of the 129.2 innings he tossed in 2022 between High-A and Double-A, and far more than the 70.1 innings he managed in 2024 and 2025 combined -- and fatigue may be setting in. Over six appearances (five starts) since the beginning of August, he's stumbled to a 6.15 ERA, 1.78 WHIP and 26:15 K:BB in 26.1 innings. He'll try to bounce back in his next trip to the mound, which is set to come at home next weekend in a rematch with the Reds.
