  • Griffin didn't factor in the decision after giving up one run on four hits and no walks over 3.2 innings during Game 4 of the ALCS against the Rays on Saturday. He struck out five.

The left-hander allowed two runs over four innings while starting Game 1 of the series, but manager Stephen Vogt elected to have him follow opener Shawn Armstrong on Saturday. Griffin gave up a run on a double and a single during the third inning but was otherwise able to keep Tampa Bay in check. He shouldn't pitch Sunday in Game 5 after throwing 44 pitches but seems likely to be available for Game 6 and a possible Game 7.

  • Griffin didn't factor in the decision in Game 1 of the ALCS against the Rays on Monday, giving up two runs on five hits with three strikeouts and no walks over four innings.

The left-hander was called upon to start the series opener and did a serviceable job for Cleveland, firing three scoreless innings after surrendering a pair of runs in the first. Griffin followed an opener during his playoff debut in the ALDS and has given up three earned runs with a 10:0 K:BB across 6.2 frames in his first two postseason appearances. He tentatively lines up to take the mound for Game 5 in Cleveland.

  • Griffin will start Game 1 of the ALCS against the Rays on Monday, Nick Camino of WKYC Channel 3 Cleveland reports.

Griffin will take the mound for the series opener after tossing 2.2 innings, allowing one run on two hits while striking out seven batters in Game 3 of the ALDS against Chicago. The southpaw threw 53 total pitches (39 strikes) in his last outing, and he will likely be operating under a similar workload Monday in Tampa Bay.

  • Griffin earned the win in Game 3 of the ALDS against the White Sox on Wednesday, giving up a run on two hits with seven strikeouts and no walks over 2.2 innings.

The left-hander entered behind opener Daniel Espino and struck out seven of the 11 batters he faced, but he was pulled with one out in the fourth inning after throwing 53 pitches (39 strikes). It was the playoff debut for Griffin, who made 31 starts as a rookie for Cleveland and Washington this year, posting a combined 3.60 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 158:45 K:BB across 172.2 regular-season innings. Given his workload, the 31-year-old Griffin likely won't be available for Game 4 on Thursday, but he should be good to go for Game 5 on Saturday, if Cleveland can stave off elimination again.

  • Griffin (15-6) took the loss against Boston on Wednesday, allowing one run on 10 hits and no walks in six innings. He struck out seven.

Griffin certainly danced around plenty of trouble, holding the Red Sox in check despite giving up 10 singles. The seven punchouts were his most since July 8 as a member of the Nationals, and it was just the southpaw's third quality start since being dealt to Cleveland. Griffin has posted a 5.19 ERA, 1.62 WHIP and 42:15 K:BB over 43.1 innings for the Guardians as his regular season comes to an end.

  • Griffin did not factor into the decision Tuesday against the Guardians, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks while striking out five across four innings.

Griffin kept the White Sox off the board until a Sam Antonacci RBI single in the fourth inning. The former was brought back out for the fifth but was quickly pulled after letting the first two batters he faced on base, one of which came home to score. Griffin ran up his pitch count to 83 (47 strikes), and it's his second consecutive outing in which he failed to complete at least five innings. In eight games since being acquired by the Guardians from the Nationals in August, Griffin has a 3-2 record with a 5.79 ERA and 1.61 WHIP across 37.1 innings. He's lined up to take on the Red Sox on the road next week in what currently projects to be his penultimate start of the regular season.
