Woodruff (shoulder) is on the Brewers' World Series roster.
Woodruff has not pitched in a game since July 4 because of right shoulder inflammation. However, he looked and felt well enough during a simulated game at American Family Field this week that the team has elected to carry him on its World Series roster. The Brewers might not be able to replace Woodruff on the roster if he has a setback -- the rules state it has to be an acute, non-chronic injury to warrant a move -- so the decision carries risk. Woodruff is taking Chad Patrick's spot on the roster and will be used in a bullpen role.

The Brewers are unlikely to add Woodruff (shoulder) to their roster for the World Series, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
Woodruff is scheduled to face hitters Tuesday for the first time since going down with right shoulder inflammation more than three months ago. However, while Woodruff is pushing hard to be included on the roster, there are a couple reasons why the proposition is unlikely. One is that the Brewers might not be allowed to replace Woodruff on the roster if he has a setback, as the rules say it has to be an acute, non-chronic injury to warrant a roster move. Another is that he simply could be rusty following such a long layoff. In the unlikely even Woodruff is included on the roster, he would work in a relief role.

Woodruff (shoulder) said Thursday that "it's gonna be hard to keep me off that [World Series] roster," Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Woodruff has not pitched in more than three months due to right shoulder inflammation, but he's been throwing off a mound for the past week and hopes to gain clearance to face hitters soon. If the Brewers do decide to carry Woodruff on their World Series roster, it would be in a relief role.

Woodruff (shoulder) threw roughly 30 pitches during a bullpen session Tuesday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Woodruff was cleared to begin throwing bullpen sessions over the weekend, and although he was a little sore after his first round of mound work, he said he was feeling good after Tuesday's session. The Brewers will likely aim for the veteran righty to face hitters within the next couple of days, which would keep the door open for him to pitch out of the bullpen if the Brewers advance to the World Series.

Woodruff (shoulder) completed the flat-ground portion of his throwing program Sunday and is awaiting to receive clearance to throw off the mound, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
The veteran hurler is working his way back from a capsule strain in his right shoulder, an injury that was initially expected to require surgery before Woodruff healed more quickly than anticipated. If Woodruff gains clearance for mound work -- which isn't a given -- the right-hander will have a small chance to pitch at some point in the postseason.

Woodruff (shoulder) has extended his flat-ground throwing to 105 feet, and his readiness for mound work will be re-evaluated at the end of September, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
The initial expectation when Woodruff was diagnosed with a capsule injury in his right shoulder in July was that he'd require season-ending surgery. However, he was able to avoid an operation after the shoulder healed more quickly than anticipated, and Woodruff was cleared to resume throwing in late August. He will not make it back before the end of the regular season, but there's a slim chance Woodruff could pitch at some point in the postseason.
