Kay (10-9) earned the win Sunday against the Rockies, striking out four while allowing one run on five hits and two walks in five innings.
Kay got a tune-up start ahead of the playoffs, looking sharp Sunday in a strong outing against a soft lineup. The southpaw is likely to serve as either a starter or bulk reliever for the White Sox this postseason following perhaps his strongest big-league campaign so far. He posted a career-best 4.44 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 129:56 K:BB across 158 innings this season.

Kay did not factor into the decision in Tuesday's 14-11 win over the Royals, allowing four runs on seven hits and one walk over four innings. He struck out four.
Kay allowed four runs over four innings, including a solo homer to Nick Loftin. On the season, Kay is sporting a 9-9 record, 4.53 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 125:54 K:BB over 153 innings. The southpaw is expected to make his final start Sunday against the Rockies.

Kay didn't factor into the decision in Wednesday's 6-3 loss to the Guardians, allowing two unearned runs on two hits and two walks over four innings. He struck out three.
A Chase Meidroth error in the third inning opened the door for both runs against Kay, but the southpaw was still fairly sharp over 66 pitches (40 strikes). Kay hasn't worked five full frames in any of his last five outings, so he would likely need to come in behind an opener to have any chance of picking up his 10th win of the season. His 7.06 ERA, 1.52 WHIP and 17:8 K:BB in 21.2 innings over that five-game stretch isn't particularly fantasy-friendly either. He lines up to make his next trip to the mound on the road early next week in Kansas City.

Kay (9-9) took the loss Friday against the Cardinals after allowing three runs on five hits and a walk while striking out two over four innings.
Kay needed 67 pitches to complete four innings, but he tossed just 38 of his offerings for strikes. Kay has given up at least three earned runs in each of his last four appearances and is winless in his last six starts, going 0-4 with a 6.83 ERA over that stretch. The six-year veteran will try to turn things around in his upcoming start, as he's scheduled to take the ball on the road against the Guardians.

Kay (9-8) took the loss against the Twins on Saturday, allowing five runs on six hits and one walk in 4.1 innings. He struck out three.
Kay hasn't been particularly economical with his pitch count of late, working fewer than five innings despite throwing at least 80 pitches in three consecutive starts. The southpaw has coughed up at least four runs each time out during that period, and he's yet to turn in a single outing this year with no walks. He'll take a 4.47 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 116:50 K:BB over 141 innings into his next scheduled appearance in St. Louis.

Kay (9-7) took the loss Monday, allowing six runs on six hits and two walks over 4.2 innings against the Astros. He struck out five.
Kay faded as his outing went on, exiting at 89 pitches (59 strikes) with the bases loaded and two outs in the fifth inning. Two inherited runners scored after the southpaw departed. The 31-year-old will close August with a 4.36 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 26:8 K:BB across 33 innings (six starts) in the month. With an overall 4.28 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 113:49 K:BB over 136.2 innings (28 appearances), Kay is tentatively scheduled to pitch Saturday against the Twins.
