Week 6 Trade Targets: Buy Carnell Tate and Emeka Egbuka, Sell Jaylen Warren and Sam LaPorta
By Verdexed Fantasy Desk

The Week 6 trade window is open, and the usage data from the first five weeks has separated players whose box scores lie from players whose box scores flatter them. Carnell Tate, Colston Loveland and Emeka Egbuka are carrying roles that their fantasy point totals do not yet reflect. Jaylen Warren, Sam LaPorta and Jaylen Waddle are sitting at or near peak perceived value, with clear reasons to expect a dip.
The timing matters. Several of these situations turn on quarterback health and backfield returns that will be settled within the next two weeks, so the price difference is widest right now.
Buy Low: Carnell Tate, Titans
Tate is the clearest volume-over-results case on the board. The No. 4 overall pick in the 2026 draft is Tennessee's top receiver, with a 26% target share and 47% of the team's air yards per Rotowire, well ahead of Wan'Dale Robinson. In Week 4 against Baltimore he drew 48% of the team's targets and roughly 70% of its air yards.
The reason he is buyable is Week 5: one catch for six yards on five targets in a 26-3 loss to Houston. Managers who see that line in isolation may be ready to move on. They should not be. A rookie earning that share of a pass offense's targets and downfield looks, while running a heavy route load, is going to produce, even if inconsistently on a winless team.
Tate faces the Colts in Week 6. Offer a mid-tier running back or a veteran WR3 with a stable but capped role, and target managers frustrated by the last box score.
Buy Low: Colston Loveland, Bears
Loveland's numbers are ugly: 110 receiving yards through five games and a two-catch, 19-yard line on five targets in the 31-7 loss at Green Bay. He sits outside the top 30 tight ends in most scoring formats. The underlying profile is better. He is running roughly 28 routes per game, up from under 24 in 2025, and has drawn 23 targets.
The cause of the slump was quarterback play. Tyson Bagent and Case Keenum combined for 195 yards, no touchdowns and four turnovers against the Packers. Caleb Williams was a full participant in practice this week after his hamstring injury and is in line to start Sunday at Atlanta. A healthy Williams is the single biggest variable for Loveland's target quality.
Tight end is the thinnest position in fantasy. If a rival is starting a touchdown-dependent veteran and has Loveland buried on the bench, a modest offer could land a player whose route volume already looks like a starter's.
Buy Low: Emeka Egbuka, Buccaneers
Egbuka is a two-step buy. In Week 5 he drew nine targets, accounted for 72% of Tampa Bay's air yards and led the team with an 84% route share, on a night when no other Buccaneer had more than four targets. The problem was efficiency, at a little over four yards per target, because the downfield connection has not been there with a backup quarterback.
That quarterback situation is why the price is low. Baker Mayfield, who dislocated his right thumb in Week 3, did not practice Wednesday or Thursday, and offensive coordinator Zac Robinson said he is not ready this week. Rookie Jalon Daniels is expected to make a third straight start Sunday against Pittsburgh, and reports suggest Mayfield could miss Week 7 against Carolina as well. The Steelers matchup is also a tough one for Egbuka's profile.
That is the window. Egbuka's role is already that of a No. 1 receiver; the production should follow once Mayfield returns. Buy him now, while his managers are staring at two more weeks of Daniels.
Sell High: Jaylen Warren, Steelers
Warren has been one of the best values of the season, posting 125-plus scrimmage yards in three straight games while Rico Dowdle was sidelined, including a career-high 188 against Indianapolis. That game leaned heavily on two long plays: an 80-yard receiving touchdown and a 50-yard rushing score.
Dowdle, out since dislocating a toe in Week 2, was limited Wednesday and a full participant Thursday for the first time since that injury. He is trending toward playing Sunday at Tampa Bay. Mike McCarthy has said Warren remains the featured back, and Dowdle may not take a large share right away. But Warren's recent ceiling games came as a near-solo back, and that context is ending.
Sell before the first box score with Dowdle back in the mix. A manager who sees three straight big games will pay RB1 prices; Warren with a healthy Dowdle is more likely a high-end RB2.
Sell High: Sam LaPorta and Jaylen Waddle
LaPorta is coming off a perfect Week 5: five catches on five targets for 88 yards and a touchdown against Arizona, his third score in five games. He ranks among the top tight ends in targets. RotoBaller flags his early numbers as inflated by a soft schedule, and argues that a bigger role for another Lions pass catcher could cut into his target share. The Lions are on bye in Week 6, which makes this the ideal moment: his managers need a tight end this week anyway, and LaPorta's last line is sitting at the top of his game log. He returns in Week 7 against Green Bay. If you hold a second startable tight end, cash him in.
Waddle played Thursday night and caught four passes for 24 yards on seven targets in Denver's 17-14 overtime win over Seattle, a game in which Bo Nix threw for 107 yards and the Broncos totaled 168 yards of offense. Waddle cost Denver a first-round pick in the offseason trade with Miami, and his name value still trades like a WR2. The production is capped by an offense that has gone long stretches without moving the ball. Sell to the manager who sees the name, not the quarterback.
The Trade Board
| Player | Team | Call | Usage Signal | Next Game |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Carnell Tate | TEN | Buy | 26% target share, 47% of air yards | Week 6, Colts |
| Colston Loveland | CHI | Buy | 23 targets, about 28 routes per game | Week 6 at Falcons |
| Emeka Egbuka | TB | Buy | 72% of air yards, 84% route share in Week 5 | Week 6 vs. Steelers |
| Jaylen Warren | PIT | Sell | 3 straight games of 125-plus scrimmage yards | Week 6 at Buccaneers |
| Sam LaPorta | DET | Sell | 5 of 5 for 88 yards and a TD in Week 5 | Bye, then Week 7 vs. Packers |
| Jaylen Waddle | DEN | Sell | 4 catches, 24 yards on 7 targets Thursday | Week 7 at Cardinals |
The common thread on the buy side is role security with depressed results driven by quarterback play or one bad week. On the sell side, it is a recent spike driven by long plays, soft matchups or a teammate's absence that is about to end.
What's Next
Three dates will decide these windows. Friday's final injury reports settle Dowdle's status for Tampa Bay and confirm Mayfield's absence. Williams' first start back at Atlanta on Sunday is the test for Loveland. And Mayfield's practice participation next week determines how long Egbuka stays discounted.
For managers who want game-level context before pulling the trigger, Verdexed's full model card for every game lives at /nfl/predictions, and the Week 6 slate breakdown is at /blog/nfl-week-6-picks-2026.
The actionable move: make offers for Tate and Egbuka before Sunday's games, use LaPorta's bye week to sell him to a tight end-needy rival, and shop Warren today, before Dowdle's first touches show up in a box score.
