  • The Blue Jays optioned Pinango to Triple-A Buffalo on Friday.

As Jesus Sanchez (ankle) returns from the injured list after missing over a month of action, Pinango will make his way down to the Triple-A squad. In 180 plate appearances this season, the 24-year-old has slashed .260/.306/.396 with five homers and 20 RBI.

  • Pinango is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Blue Jays.

The left-handed hitter will hit the bench for the second time in the series, this time against southpaw starter Ranger Suarez. Davis Schneider will receive the nod in left field Sunday, but Pinango should hold down the strong side of a platoon until the Blue Jays get Jesus Sanchez (ankle) back from the injured list.

  • The Blue Jays recalled Pinango from Triple-A Buffalo, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports. He'll start in left field and bat fifth Wednesday against the Rays.

Pinango has held his own at the big-league level this season with a .267/.313/.413 batting line, though he went only 4-for-23 (.174 average) at the plate in his most recent stint. The left-handed-hitting Pinango will likely see some playing time in the corner-outfield spots versus right-handed pitchers.

  • The Blue Jays optioned Pinango to Triple-A Buffalo on Tuesday.

Pinango has gone just 4-for-23 (.174) in eight games since his return to the big leagues, and he'll now end up as the roster casualty necessary to clear space for Chad Dallas. The 24-year-old Pinango still owns a .726 OPS with Toronto this season and figures to return to the majors later in the year.

  • Pinango is not in the Blue Jays' starting lineup against the Giants on Monday.

Even with right-hander Landen Roupp taking the mound for the Giants, the lefty-hitting Pinango will be on the bench for Monday's series opener while Myles Straw starts in left field and bats eighth. Since returning to the majors June 27, Pinango has gone 4-for-23 (.174) with one home run, two RBI and seven strikeouts.

  • Pinango will start in left field and bat sixth in Wednesday's game against the Mets.

Toronto will include Pinango in the starting nine for a fifth straight game after he went 2-for-12 with a home run and two RBI in his first four contests following his call-up from Triple-A Buffalo over the weekend. The 24-year-old looks like he'll have the opportunity to play regularly in left field while Jesus Sanchez (ankle) is on the injured list.
