Ramirez earned a save against the Padres on Monday by striking out all three batters he faced in the 12th inning.
With primary closer Mason Montgomery as well as top setup man Luke Weaver having pitched earlier in the game, manager Don Kelly turned to Ramirez after Pittsburgh took a 3-2 lead in the top of the 12th frame. The righty reliever performed in dominant fashion, striking out the side on 17 total pitches. It was the second save of the season for Ramirez and the ninth of his seven-year MLB career. Montgomery has been outstanding of late and is in no danger of losing his closer role, so fantasy managers in need of saves need not speculate on Ramirez getting many (if any) final-inning chances moving forward.

The Pirates reinstated Ramirez (personal) from the paternity leave list Monday, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.
Ramirez stepped away from the Pirates for the entirety of the team's three-game weekend series with the Red Sox to spend time with his growing family. He'll rejoin the bullpen ahead of Monday's series opener versus the Tigers, with the Pirates optioning left-hander Hunter Barco to Triple-A Indianapolis to clear room for Ramirez on the active roster and in the bullpen.

Thursday will mark the first start of Ramirez's seven-year MLB career. He'll likely pitch one or two innings before turning the game over to Hunter Barco, who is expected to work in bulk relief, per Demilio. Ramirez has submitted a 3.21 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 62:33 K:BB across 56 innings this season.

Ramirez earned the save Saturday against the Brewers after tossing a scoreless 10th inning, striking out two.
Dennis Santana worked the eighth inning and Gregory Soto the ninth, leaving Ramirez to handle the save chance once the Pirates took a lead in the top of the 10th. The right-hander tossed 10 of his 15 pitches for strikes, retiring William Contreras with a groundout before fanning Jake Bauers and Tyler Black. Ramirez has struck out at least two in five of his last seven appearances, and he seems to be getting back on track after allowing four runs (two earned) during a two-outing stretch in mid-April. Ramirez was charged with a blown save, allowing the go-ahead run at the time due to a wild pitch to give the Nationals a 7-6 lead. The 30-year-old has appeared in nine games for Pittsburgh, recording a 2.13 ERA in 12.2 innings. The right-hander has posted at least two strikeouts in seven of his nine relief outings, working more than one inning five times and picking up two wins and a hold.
