Peralta exercised his $4.45 million player option for 2027 on Saturday, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.
It's the third straight offseason that Peralta has opted in for another year with San Diego. The lefty reliever tossed a career-high 77.1 innings over 65 appearances in the 2026 regular season, posting a 3.61 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 50:23 K:BB while notching three wins and five holds. Peralta should again be a key part of the Padres' bullpen in 2027, though that doesn't necessarily mean he'll log frequent high-leverage work.

The Padres removed Peralta from their NLDS roster on Wednesday.
Peralta was added to the roster Tuesday as a replacement for Mason Miller, but now that the latter has returned from paternity leave, Peralta will be required to come off the roster without making an appearance in the NLDS.

Peralta will join San Diego's NLDS roster as a temporary replacement for Mason Miller, who was placed on the postseason paternity list Tuesday. If the Padres extend the series long enough to allow Miller to return, Peralta would be forced back off the roster.

Peralta has given up 11 earned runs in 12.2 innings since the All-Star break, but the Padres will trust him to get through the first inning or two of Saturday's contest nonetheless. Randy Vasquez is likely to work in bulk relief once Peralta comes out of the game.
