Latest news

  • The Rockies sent Bellozo outright to Triple-A Albuquerque on Saturday.

Bellozo was jettisoned off the Rockies' 40-man roster after posting an 8.83 ERA and 1.83 WHIP across 52 innings in the minors. No team was willing to pick him up off waivers, so the 26-year-old righty will remain in the organization as rotation depth at Albuquerque. Eiberson Castellano was selected to the MLB roster in a corresponding move.

  • The Rockies optioned Bellozo to Triple-A Albuquerque on Monday.

After starter Kyle Freeland (shoulder) was scratched shortly before opening pitch, the Rockies ended up going with a bullpen game during Sunday's 7-2 loss to the Padres. Bellozo took on the brunt of the work for Colorado, covering 4.1 innings and yielding five earned runs on eight hits and four walks. Since Bellozo wasn't going to be available for the next few days after the 90-pitch appearance, the Rockies will send him back to Triple-A and will presumably call up another pitcher to replace him in the bullpen.

  • Bellozo allowed five runs on eight hits and four walks while striking out one over 4.1 innings in Sunday's loss to the Padres.

With planned starter Kyle Freeland (shoulder) a late scratch, Bellozo entered in the third inning as the bulk reliever. The results were lackluster, as the right-hander struggled with his command and served up three homers. Through 10.2 big-league innings this season, Bellozo owns a 7.59 ERA and 1.59 WHIP.

  • The Rockies recalled Bellozo from Triple-A Albuquerque on Thursday.

With Jose Quintana (hamstring) headed for the injured list, the Rockies will call upon Bellozo to fill the void in their starting rotation. The 26-year-old failed to make the Opening Day roster after posting a 6.32 ERA in the Cactus League, and he got off to a poor start in Triple-A by allowing three runs in three innings during his first outing with the Isotopes. Assuming he slides right into Quintana's place in the rotation, Bellozo is due to make his Rockies debut Saturday against the Phillies in front of the home crowd.

  • The Rockies selected Bellozo's contract Thursday and optioned him to Triple-A Albuquerque, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.

Bellozo didn't make the cut for Colorado's Opening Day roster after giving up 11 earned runs in 15.2 Cactus League innings, but he will claim a spot on the team's 40-man roster. The 26-year-old right-hander owns a 4.20 ERA and 1.32 WHIP through 150 innings in his big-league career and could earn a spot in the Rockies' poor starting rotation if he returns to form in Triple-A. RJ Petit (elbow) was placed on the 60-day IL in a corresponding move.

  • The Rockies reassigned Bellozo to minor-league camp Monday.

After compiling a 4.65 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 54:23 K:BB over 81.1 innings as a swingman for Miami in 2025, Bellozo didn't perform well enough in his first spring training with the Rockies to win a spot on the Opening Day roster as a starter or long reliever. He's expected to open the upcoming season at Triple-A Albuquerque.
